Job description

Position Summary

TRP Infrastructure Services is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Safety Associate to support field operations across our Pavement Marking, Traffic Control, and Heavy Highway Construction divisions. This position plays a key role in promoting a strong safety culture by assisting with jobsite inspections, employee training, incident investigations, regulatory compliance, and safety program implementation.
The Safety Associate will work closely with Operations, Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, client requirements, and applicable OSHA, DOT, and state regulations.

Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Field Safety Support
Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and audits.
Assist with implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and procedures.
Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Monitor employee compliance with PPE requirements and safe work practices.
Participate in daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and pre-task planning activities.
Support traffic control setup inspections and work zone safety compliance.
Training & Development
Assist with new hire safety orientation and onboarding.
Deliver and coordinate toolbox talks and safety meetings.
Maintain training records and employee certifications.
Support development of safety awareness initiatives and programs.
Reinforce safe work practices through coaching and field engagement.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain OSHA logs, inspection records, and safety documentation.
Assist with regulatory compliance audits and customer safety requirements.
Ensure field crews maintain required certifications and training.
Support DOT compliance efforts as applicable.
Track corrective actions and follow up on completion.
Incident Management
Assist in incident, near-miss, and property damage investigations.
Gather statements, photographs, and supporting documentation.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action development.
Maintain confidential incident records and reports.
Operational Support
Travel to project sites throughout assigned regions.
Work closely with field leadership to proactively address safety concerns.
Assist with fleet, equipment, and facility safety inspections.
Promote TRP's safety culture through positive employee engagement and leadership presence.

Qualifications

Required
High School Diploma or GED.
1-3 years of construction, pavement marking, traffic control, heavy highway, or safety-related experience.
Knowledge of OSHA construction safety regulations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to travel to jobsites and occasionally work nights or weekends.
Preferred
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
ATSSA Traffic Control Technician (TCT) or Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS).
First Aid/CPR Certification.
Experience with pavement marking, roadway striping, traffic control, or heavy highway construction operations.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to access active construction and roadway work zones safely.
Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, and work boots.

Work Environment

Combination of field and office work.
Frequent travel to active roadway and construction projects.
Exposure to traffic, construction equipment, noise, dust, heat, and varying weather conditions.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.
