Job description

  • Position Summary
    • The Technologist Assistant provides direct care to patients and their families in a developmentally, culturally and ethically appropriate manner. The Tech. Asst. works under the direction of the Technologist, identifies patients, maintains clean/sterile working environment, complying with policies, processes and procedures. Often transports patients, directs outpatients, participates in data collection, prepares injectors and documents patient histories. Checks storage and routing of supplies each day. Confers with the manager to report problems relative to equipment, staffing and productivity. Actively involved in patient satisfaction scores, to ensure an excellent patient experience. Helps to create a work-safe environment. Must have good communication and phone skills. Works in a very robust, clinical setting.

  • Core Job Functions
    • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the patient being served. Demonstrates principles of growth and development to the patient population served. Under the supervision of the Ultrasound technologist, coordinates patient care needs and understands the exams that are being requested.
    • Under the supervision of the technologist, explains procedures to the patient/family. Operates equipment and uses protective devices. Organizes work area and maintains adequate stock in preparation to care for patients.
    • Answers phone within 3 rings using good customer skills. Follows policy for confidentiality.
    • Knowledgeable of Joint Commission, OSHA, CMS, ACR, and AORN regulatory guidelines concerning the care of the imaging patients. Participates in quality improvement processes surrounding American College of Radiology Standards to achieve highest level of performance. Assures team is included in patient safety activities such as Time Out, Read Back/Verify, and Site Marking.
    • Works closely with all departments to ensure timely service. Assist Technologists.
