Position Overview
Matthews is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Analyst to join its Corporate Communications and Publications team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong analytical mindset who enjoys working with data, identifying market trends, and transforming research into meaningful insights.
The CRE Market Research Associate will support the production of national and regional market reports, research publications, thought leadership, and other market intelligence initiatives. This role will help collect, analyze, and interpret commercial real estate and economic data while contributing to reports, presentations, and market commentary used by clients, brokers, and the firm's marketing efforts
This role will be based in our Scottsdale, AZ office.
Duties & Responsibiliti es
Market Research & Analysis
  • Research commercial real estate market trends across multiple property types and geographic markets
  • Monitor economic indicators, industry news, and market activity to identify meaningful trends and emerging themes.
  • Collect, organize, and validate data from industry research platforms and public sources.
  • Analyzing market fundamentals including vacancies, rental rates, absorption, construction activity, investment sales, and demographic trends.
  • Support ad hoc research requests from internal stakeholders

Market Reports & Publications
  • Support the production of quarterly and annual market reports, white papers, and research publications
  • Prepare market summaries, data tables, charts, and graphs for research reports
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy across all research publications
  • Review data for quality control and verify information prior to publication
  • Assist with updating templates, graphics, and recurring research deliverables

Thought Leadership & Content
  • Support the development of market commentary, research articles, and thought leadership pieces
  • Identify data-driven storylines that can be developed into reports, articles, presentations, and digital content
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Communications team to transform research into client-facing content
  • Assist with research supporting webinars, presentations, and other educational materials

Data Visualization & Reporting

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business, Geography, Statistics, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in commercial real estate research, market analysis, finance, or a related analytical role (internships encouraged).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience creating charts and data visualizations in Excel or similar tools is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret large datasets.
  • Comfortable working with deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Interest in commercial real estate markets and economic trends.
  • Willingness to leverage AI tools to improve research, content development, and workflow efficiency.
  • Experience with CRE research platforms such as CoStar, Real Capital Analytics, Realpage, or similar tools is a plus, but not required.
