Description

Manages marketing activities associated with products and services, including market planning (prioritizing market segments and developing marketing plans for key products/services), market development (creating markets, via advertising, direct marketing, telemarketing, product/service promotions, and public relations) and market measurement (determine the success or failure of plans and promotions). Monitors marketing activity and develops measurement tools to track results of marketing activity and makes recommendations regarding the success or failure of plans and promotions. Manages ongoing marketing activities associated with access and information management to maintain and keep current product and service information located in consumer and physician oriented publications. Develops and monitors project and /or service line budget to assure estimates and actual expenses reconcile. Assists in developing annual budget for assigned marketing areas. Coordinates all service line and/or target marketing monthly meetings to review work in progress, identifies new services or marketing opportunities and reviews volume, service or image benchmarks with operational units. Stays up to date on competitive threats, marketing trends and regional and national marketing programs related to assigned marketing area.

Primary Focus: Brand operations and governance. Oversees university brand operations, approval processes and physical brand assets to ensure consistent application of the UAB brand across campus and affiliated locations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manages the university's campus banner and environmental branding program, including coordination with Facilities, Parking Transportation, UAB Health System and external vendors.
  • Manage marketing approval workflows, ensuring compliance with university brand standards, trademark guidelines and approved vendor requirements.
  • Assist with Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) approvals and retail branding reviews.
  • Monitor and report on approval processes, licensing activity and brand compliance while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Maintain documentation and operational standards that support efficient, consistent brand management.

Salary Range: $55,180 - $80,000

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferred:

  • Detail-oriented, technology-forward and collaborative professional with excellent project management skills, sound judgment and the ability to balance customer service with brand stewardship.
