The Director of Multichannel Marketing manages the strategy, execution, and optimization of channel marketing strategy, with a focus on email and social media marketing programs. This role is a critical driver of CNA's brand presence and business growth, building scalable, data-informed campaigns that reach our audiences across the full lifecycle.
The person will bring deep expertise in B2B marketing automation, social media strategy, and marketing analytics, along with the leadership presence to influence cross-functional stakeholders

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:

Channel Strategy and Leadership

  • Oversee the development and optimization of external communications across email, social media, paid/earned channels, and external campaigns, ensuring a consistent brand voice across all touchpoints.
  • Manages CNA's end-to-end email marketing strategy, including audience segmentation, campaign design, content development, and performance optimization to increase engagement and conversion.
  • Advances CNA's social media strategy across paid, organic, and employee advocacy programs, driving increased visibility, engagement, and brand advocacy while enabling targeted business unit activation.
  • Champion a culture of testing and iteration, building a structured A/B and multivariate testing cadence and striving to grow and continuously improve our channel strategy
  • Manages agency partners and vendor relationships to ensure scalable, high-quality, and cost-effective execution across external communications initiatives.

Analytics, Technology & Governance

  • Owns the toolset for email and social channels, serving as the internal subject matter expert and primary admin for Adobe Marketo Engage (Marketo), Litmus, Zerobounce, Hootsuite, and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
  • Define KPIs and reporting frameworks for external communications, leveraging data and insights to continuously optimize performance and demonstrate impact across channels.
  • Partner with Marketing Operations and Technology to maintain clean data flows between Marketo and the CRM (Salesforce preferred), ensuring contact record integrity and compliant data use.
  • Leverage web analytics tools to track campaign attribution, landing page conversion, and multichannel touchpoint data.
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies that improve workflow efficiency, personalization capabilities, or measurement maturity.

May perform additional duties as assigned.

Typically reports to AVP or above.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Deep understanding of email marketing regulatory landscape.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo), including segmentation, campaign management, and performance tracking.
  • Deep expertise across paid, owned, and earned media, including social, email and digital channels within a B2B environment.
  • Collaborate closely with business-facing marketers, creative leadership, and the external agency to integrate multichannel programs into broader campaign plans.
  • Present channel strategy, performance results, and investment recommendations to senior marketing leaders and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience establishing KPIs, analyzing performance metrics, and using insights to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional initiatives with multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and dependencies.
  • Experience leading external partners to deliver high-quality, scalable outcomes while managing budgets effectively.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, Digital Marketing or related field/discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 7-10 years of progressive B2B marketing experience, with at least 4 years owning email and/or social media strategy at a program or channel level.
  • Property & Casualty insurance industry preferred but not required
  • Certifications/ credentials (one or more preferred but not required): Marketing Automation Certification (e.g. Marketo Certified Associate/Expert). Hands-on experience with a CRM platform, Salesforce preferred and a clear understanding of the Marketo-CRM data relationship. Demonstrated experience with Litmus or equivalent email testing/deliverability tools. Experience with Google Tag Manager for marketing tracking and attribution.

In District of Columbia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Washington, the national base pay range for this job level is $97,000 to $189,000 annually.Salary determinations are based on various factors, including but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location.
