The Opportunity: Hickory Handle Media & Marketing is a full-service ad agency in Anchorage Alaska with a growing book of business and a need for a part-time social media marketing specialist to plan, write, shoot, edit, and publish social content for clients. Founded in 2025, Hickory Handle Media and Marketing is a small but nimble operation with clientele across Alaska in a variety of different industries.


Role Description: The Social Media Marketing Specialist is a part-time role based in Anchorage, AK with potential to grow to a full-time role in the near future. The Social Media Marketing Specialist is responsible for managing and growing Hickory Handle clients' audiences across social media platforms. This role involves planning, creating, and publishing engaging social content, as well as monitoring social channels daily. The Social Media Marketing Specialist responds to audience interactions, and collaborates with the account manager to align messaging with annual marketing goals. A good candidate will need the ability to work independently from their remote location with occasionally working in the field directly with clients and the account manager.


Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Social Media Marketing and content development, with experience planning, shooting, and editing video.
  • Proficiency in major social media platform account management.
  • Foundational knowledge of marketing principles and brand positioning in a content-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear writing, collaborative teamwork, and professional interaction with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid model from their home office and on-site in south central Alaska.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field, or equivalent professional experience is preferred.
