Job description

Become a Part of the NIKE, Inc. Team
NIKE, Inc. does more than outfit the world's best athletes. It is a place to explore potential, obliterate boundaries and push out the edges of what can be. The company looks for people who can grow, think, dream and create. Its culture thrives by embracing diversity and rewarding imagination. The brand seeks achievers, leaders, and visionaries. At Nike, it is about each person bringing skills and passion to a challenging and constantly evolving the game.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Does pulling back the paper on a fresh pair of trainers spark an irresistible urge to go for a run? Do you get fired up at the opportunity to lead a group of store employees through a technical session on the difference between Nike running shoes? Are you down to help someone discover their passion for sports? Do you love retail, learning about athlete needs and watching "the moment of truth" when they choose the shoe to run their first 5K in? If so, we believe this could be the job for you!
In 1981, Nike created the EKIN team (EKIN is "Nike" spelled backwards) to be Nike's Athlete Missionaries and serve as a reminder to go back to the days when athletes represented Nike, converted other athletes to our shoes and built personal and meaningful relationships in the community.
Today, EKINs continue that mission and bring Nike's inspiration and innovation to athletes in the markets they serve and beyond. Focused on Nike's foundation in running, this role will ensure day-to-day consistency, cohesion, and impact of Nike by way of building relationships and delivering elevated education experiences in partnership with Nike-owned retail and key sporting goods partners. As Nike's product authority, EKINs use their voice both internally, and at times, externally to empower all athletes to make sport a daily habit. We are looking for an EKIN to join our team based in CHICAGO.
The ideal candidate brings a dedicated approach, passion for running and sport, some background in retail, and excellent presentation skills. It's how we started over 50 years ago and the combination of these qualities will power Nike in compelling ways to better serve athletes for the next 50 years.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
  • Bringing key Nike product stories to life across the marketplace as Nike's product authority

  • Leveraging marketplace expertise to develop locally relevant seasonal plans aligned with city or geo marketing teams

  • Leveraging your passion and position to strategically authenticate Nike product stories in the marketplace

  • Creating experiential training sessions that energize Retail Associates in your market with effective tools that drive reach and impact across multiple formats including video, virtual and immersive in-person sessions.

  • Actively participate in the sport community. You will integrate and collaborate with the community in meaningful and impactful ways that reinforce Nike's mission and beliefs.

  • You will serve as Nike's eyes and ears, shaping marketplace insights with observations of the consumer, product, competition, and trends.

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH
You will report into the Territory EKIN Manager and will work closely with your Centralized EKIN team, Territory EKIN teams, and City/Geography Marketing teams to prioritize seasonal opportunities. You will collaborate with Account Training & Delivery partners to optimize education touchpoints against the holistic vision of athlete education in your market and more broadly. You will work with Field Leadership teams, Store teams, and Retail Store Operations team as execution partners. Additionally, you will manage external vendor partners in the creation of training events.
WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, sports management, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training

  • 2 years of retail, sales, customer service, mentoring, or instructing experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the running market as it relates to consumer trends, local market hot spots, and retail destinations

  • Ability to connect and inspire people, meeting facilitation and making strategic recommendations

  • Ability to drive a culture of always-on testing and learning, including the rapid application of consumer signals into strategy, planning, and content iteration

  • Must have a deep passion for the NIKE brand and sports

  • Positive and active presence on social media and across the digital world with experience in content creation and online storytelling

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time

  • Must lift heavy objects and sample bags that weigh up to 50 lbs.

  • Experience with an event agency or large-scale special events preferred but not required
