Job description

The Senior Multimedia Producer is responsible for ideating to help generate local content, cross-departmental communication/production, vetting of independent production, and producing content from concept to broadcast. The ideal candidate is curious about the intersection of local and national news and culture, and a skilled audio and video producer. This position reports to the Program Director and works closely with producers, news team, and audience editor, and others to deliver polished, community centered programming across platforms.
This person must innately understand the digital landscape, including trends, opportunities, audience behavior, community management, and intersections with social media. They will ensure that our content reaches and serves diverse audiences, builds healthy engagement, and maximizes sustainability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall lead visual production activities for internal and external clients.
  • Act as the point person for Independent Productions. Build and nurture relationships with independent producers, organizations, and distributors. Research, review, acquire and schedule externally produced content for WITF channels.
  • Ensure that all produced content meets organizational policies and brand values while staying competitive.
  • Lead special content initiative projects in collaboration with peer public media organizations in the commonwealth
  • Stay current with audience trends across the streaming and on-demand landscapes.
  • Champion an innovative and highly collaborative diverse culture that promotes idea generation, open communication, respect for others, and trust.
  • Provide production support and guidance for cross-systems teams: Marketing, Sales, Development:
  • Provide vision and execution for new sales/corporate support material
  • Lead the video production of development spots, segments, etc.
  • Offer support to marketing team video production
  • Collaborate in audience research with Audience Editor (interviews, surveys, testing, and observation) to inform the creation and positioning of products and build healthy community relationships.
  • Lead the digitalization of archived materials for access to membership and other key-stakeholders.
  • Provide training and mentoring to Education colleagues and students.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Film, Media, Communications, or a related field and a minimum of five years of professional experience with video production and creative direction or an equivalent amount of experience in lieu of education. Understanding of digital content marketplace and competitive landscape including experience publishing to modern digital platforms is required.
