Role Overview:
The company is hiring a Test Technician to support product evaluation and prototype testing within an engineering/laboratory environment. The role is primarily a hands-on technician position, not a traditional Test Engineer opening. The technician will conduct product tests according to engineering procedures, operate and maintain test equipment, troubleshoot test systems, assemble prototype components/subassemblies, build test fixtures/setups, perform calibration checks, and disassemble/repair/reassemble vehicle components as needed.
Hiring Team Clarification / Ideal Profile:
  • Hiring team wants to treat this as a technician-level role, rather than a Test Engineer position.
  • 2-year technical degree / Associate's degree is the preferred educational background.
  • Open to junior-level candidates, including entry level candidates and candidates with limited professional experience.
  • Strong preference for hands-on candidates, mechanically/electrically inclined, able to follow instructions, troubleshoot problems, and willing to learn and grow with the team.
  • Automotive experience is highly beneficial but should not be treated as an absolute requirement for the right technical candidate.
  • Candidates with strong hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, manufacturing, laboratory, prototype, or equipment environments may be transferable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct product evaluation and prototype testing according to engineering test procedures.
  • Instrument vehicles and/or equipment for data collection.
  • Build test fixtures and experimental test setups.
  • Assemble prototype subassemblies from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on assigned test equipment.
  • Troubleshoot test systems and determine causes of equipment malfunctions.
  • Perform calibration checks using test instruments.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble vehicle components/systems.
  • Assist with training and providing work direction to engineering technicians as needed.

Experience Level:
  • Open to entry level candidates through approximately 4 years of experience.
  • Candidates without the preferred education may qualify with significant relevant hands-on experience.
  • Do not require extensive professional testing experience if the candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude and hands-on capability.
