POSITION SUMMARY:
The Credit Analyst I supports the Bank's commercial lending function by analyzing financial information, preparing credit underwriting documentation, monitoring portfolio risk, and assisting with ongoing credit administration activities. The Credit Analyst I develops foundational commercial credit skills through financial statement analysis, cash flow evaluation, industry and market research, support of routine loan review activities, and preparation of credit memorandums for standard commercial credit relationships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Credit & Financial Acumen
  • Analyze business and personal financial statements, tax returns, interim financial information, collateral documentation, and other borrower data to assess creditworthiness.
  • Calculate and interpret key financial ratios, cash flow metrics, debt service coverage, leverage trends, and repayment capacity.
  • Assist in preparing credit presentations, underwriting analyses, annual reviews, renewals, modifications, and risk-rating recommendations.
  • Research industry, economic, and market conditions to identify potential risks and opportunities that may impact borrower performance.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of financial information used in underwriting and credit analysis.

Credit Administration
  • Prepare and maintain credit files, financial spreads, relationship summaries, and supporting loan documentation.
  • Assist in preparation of loan approval reports, including the assessment of risk.
  • Coordinate collection of borrower financial statements and other required information.
  • Ensure analyses, reports, and documentation are completed accurately and within established timelines.
  • Evaluate all aspects of real estate collateral for consumer and commercial loans, including but not limited to verifying valuations are completed within regulatory requirements and in accordance with bank policies.
  • Assist with ongoing monitoring of commercial credit relationships, including covenant compliance, financial reporting requirements, annual review schedules, and exception tracking.
  • Support compliance with loan policy, underwriting standards, lending authorities, and regulatory guidance.

  • Ensure documentation is complete, current, and audit-ready in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the Associate must be able to sit for long periods of time on a regular basis and is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The associate may occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
[Non-Exempt] Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday as an eight-hour shift between the hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This position occasionally requires overtime.
TRAVEL:
This position may occasionally require local or regional travel for training, meetings, or professional development activities. Overnight travel is infrequent.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
  • Experience in banking, finance, accounting, credit analysis, commercial lending support, or a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze numerical data and identify trends.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective planning and priority setting ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Agribusiness, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
