Job description

OCCU is a member-owned credit union based in Eugene, Oregon, guided by a clear and meaningful vision: to Enrich Lives. This purpose drives everything we do, from how we serve our members to how we support one another as colleagues. With a strong commitment to community impact, OCCU lives its values of tenacity, humility, and big-heartedness every day.

This remote role requires current Texas residency, ideally in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, or Austin, to support efficient travel and strong local market insight. The position offers a competitive salary range of $84,793- $109,732, depending on experience and regional location.

About the role:

We are seeking a highly experienced dealership leader who understands the day-to-day realities of running successful automotive dealerships. This role is designed for professionals with significant experience leading dealership sales, finance, and operations teams who want to leverage their industry expertise to build strategic partnerships across the Texas auto market.

This position is best suited for a former dealership leader who has spent years driving sales performance, managing F&I operations, developing dealership talent, and supporting dealership profitability. You'll serve as a trusted business partner to dealer principals, general managers, general sales managers, finance directors, and ownership groups across Texas.

Rather than approaching dealers strictly as a lender representative, you'll bring credibility as someone who understands dealership operations firsthand and can provide insights that strengthen long-term dealer relationships and indirect lending performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote OCCU’s Indirect Lending products and services to dealership leaders and staff.
  • Build new dealer partnerships and strengthen existing franchise and independent relationships.
  • Develop outreach plans to grow dealer penetration and loan volume.
  • Follow up on leads and referrals from field activity.
  • Train dealership staff on OCCU expectations, procedures, guidelines, and contracts.
  • Liaise with dealers, underwriting, and Indirect Lending to support smooth deal flow.
  • Identify and report dealer issues, misrepresentation, or compliance concerns.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of indirect lending regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Complete dealer visits and record outcomes daily per Dealer Management guidelines.
  • Support marketing events, partnership activities, and required training.
  • Monitor competitor rates, market trends, and dealer performance to guide strategy.
  • Resolve member, dealer, and branch disputes; manage ServiceNow complaints promptly.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 7-9 years of progressive dealership leadership experience required.
  • Experience as a Finance Director, General Sales Manager (GSM), General Manager (GM), Dealer Principal, or other senior dealership leadership role strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading dealership sales, finance, and operational performance.
  • Deep understanding of dealership profitability, desking, inventory management, F&I performance, lender relationships, and dealership sales processes.
  • Extensive existing relationships within the Texas automotive retail market preferred.
  • Ability to build credibility with dealership ownership groups, executive leadership, finance directors, and sales leadership teams.
  • Indirect lending experience is valued but dealership leadership experience is the primary qualification for this role.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout Texas and work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Who Will Thrive in This Role:

This position is ideal for candidates who have spent their careers inside automotive dealerships and understand:

  • Variable operations
  • F&I management
  • Deal structure and lender relationships
  • Sales leadership and coaching
  • Dealer profitability
  • Inventory and performance management
  • Franchise and independent dealership operations

Why Join OCCU:

OCCU offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth, including:

  • Low-cost medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid time off plus 13 paid holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement for eligible education and training
  • Company-paid long-term disability
  • 40 hours of company-paid core time annually for full-time employees to participate in community volunteer opportunities

OCCU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates. If you meet the qualifications passionate about building strong dealership partnerships, driving indirect lending growth, and representing OCCU’s mission across Texas, we encourage you to apply.
