A Maritime Information Technology job involves managing and supporting IT systems used in the maritime industry, including navigation, communication, cybersecurity, and logistics software. Professionals in this field ensure the secure and efficient operation of onboard and shore-based digital systems. They work with technologies like GPS, AIS, ECDIS, and satellite communications to enhance vessel operations and maritime safety. This role may also involve troubleshooting IT-related issues, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, and improving data management for shipping companies and ports.

What does someone in maritime information technology do?

Professionals in Maritime Information Technology typically resolve technical issues related to shipboard and shore-based IT systems, maintain and update navigation and communication software, and ensure cybersecurity protocols are followed.
