We are seeking a hands-on expert to perform repair, maintenance and service on critical marine equipment. This includes MacGregor's and third-party equipment as shipboard cranes, ship machinery and winches. Your main discipline is hydraulic and electric, basic understanding of mechanical systems is a plus but not required. Your commitment to quality and safety will be crucial in ensuring our customers' vessels operate smoothly and that we meet our service objectives.
You will work both offshore as well as at local shipyards and ports world wide.Services are expected to maintain flexible working hours in response to demand.
More tasks and responsibilities
  • Diagnostics and troubleshooting of hydraulic and electrical equipment
  • Supervise and perform the refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions
  • Identify service and spares sales opportunities and communicate them to the line manager to support all activities
  • To support Service overall goals and budgets
  • Preparing detailed service reports and documentation for all work performed
  • Ensure that all activities comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS), QHSE and other rules and requirements according to MacGregor standards

Reporting directly to the Operations Superintendent. The position will be based in MacGregor's office in Houston, Texas
What you'll need to succeed
You have a background in the offshore or maritime industry, with a primary focus on hydraulic, mechanical and electric equipment.
On a personal level, we are looking for an independent professional who has the confidence to make decisions under pressure. Effective communication, flexibility and openness to new information are the key to success in this role. The ideal candidate will enjoy hands-on work and thrive in a collaborative, multicultural environment.
Ideally you have:
  • Technical education at college in electrical or mechanical disciplines, or a similar relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of hydraulic and electric experience
  • Basic working knowledge of electronics, experience in PLC's is a plus
  • Previous experience with ship and/or port cranes, winches
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods of time
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English

Compensation Data
Salary ranges from $80 000 - $100 000 per year based on skills and experience. Plus overtime.
