Blue & Gold Fleet has been the premier provider of ferry and water excursion services on San Francisco Bay for over 40 years, offering the famous one-hour San Francisco Bay Cruise, the 90-minute Escape from the Rock Cruise around Alcatraz Island, Rocket Boat and a Sunset Cruise.
We provide regular ferry service to Sausalito and through its contract with the Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) service to: Harbor Bay, Main Street Alameda, Oakland, Richmond, Seaplane Lagoon, South San Francisco, Vallejo, Oracle Park (for San Francisco Giants games and special events) and Chase Center (for Golden State Warriors games and special events). Blue & Gold Fleet operates a fleet of 26 vessels.
Job Description
Our Engineering Manager plays a critical role in leading the North Bay Engineering Team and supporting vessel operations. This position ensures our fleet is maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
This position oversees all aspects of fleet maintenance and repair, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and implements cost control measures. The Engineering Manager is also responsible for scheduling work activities, managing the maintenance program, and delivering timely performance reports to WETA. The Engineering Manager's leadership is a key driver of operational efficiency and our commitment to safety and company policies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee engineering work on the vessels, facilities, and terminals.
  • Perform quality control inspections of all maintenance work, sub-contractor and shipyard work.
  • Manage all communication with all NB Engineers, and provide updates to the Director of Engineering.
  • Prioritize tasks, work orders, preventative maintenance and assign & schedule work.
  • Ensure that all maintenance work is completed following established safe working practices, utilizing the proper PPE for all engineers and sub-contractors.
  • Collaborate with North Bay Operations staff to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and allocate appropriate resources to ensure safe and efficient vessel operations.
  • Manage inspections of WETA assets to monitor and improve our maintenance plans.

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Marine Engineering experience, preferably in the passenger vessel industry.
  • Experience in maritime maintenance facilities.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of vessel repair and fabrication
  • Minimum of 10 years of recent, marine engineering experience or equivalent experience (must include a minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience).
  • Must possess a valid Driver License with a good driving record.
  • Computer literacy and strong oral/written communication are required.

Rate: $133,900 - $143,170 (DOE)
