Job description

NABRICO Marine is looking for a Senior Designer to join our team in Covington, LA. At NABRICO Marine Madisonville, LA, we are a leading manufacturer of hopper, tank, deck, and dock barges that carry cargo on the thousands of miles of rivers in the United States. We serve a diverse set of customers including dry products, liquids, containers, and other bulk cargo with a proven ability to deliver products at the rate industry demands. We are also able to manufacture custom barges. 

Responsibilities

  • Primarily detail Hull designs for tank (liquid cargo) barges, hopper barges, deck barges, and dock barges.
  • Utilize Shipconstructor and AutoCAD in addition to Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word)
  • Upgrade 2D drawings to 3D models per company standards.
  • Create 3D model of structural/hull in a detail package using ShipConstructor.
  • Creating and updating Construction Drawings for release to production
  • Creating and updating Shop Drawings for release to production
  • Creating and updating Shopbills for release to production
  • Creating CNC code to by processed by inhouse CNC processing equipment
  • Revising linework, references, notes, and callouts based on redline markups.
  • Work is office-based, using computer drafting technology and software, spreadsheet software, and electronic communication daily.
  • Coordinate with and consult with peers to design, layout, or detail complex components and resolve design of other problems.
  • Gather information from contract specifications, earlier projects, and production capabilities to produce detailed designs and construction drawings and BOMs.
  • May occasionally need to visit production areas to troubleshoot construction problems and offer solutions.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum (3) years’ experience with AutoCAD.
  • Computer Aided Drafting on assigned projects utilizing AutoCAD 2024.
  • Minimum (3) years’ experience with ShipConstructor, highly preferred 
  • Computer Aided Drafting with 3D software on assigned projects utilizing Shipconstructor 2025, preferred 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and additional Microsoft products.
  • Ability to read & understand Marine Structural documentation (blueprints)
  • Experience with ShipConstructor Hull Feature, Parts Creation, Reports, Marine Drafting as well as ShipConstructor Certifications are preferred 
  • Experience with large assemblies (5,000+ parts) 
  • Complete high-paced assignments through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work.
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
