Position Overview:
As part of the talented Quality team, you will maintain quality control testing procedures, practices, and standard evaluation methods that will ensure product quality and integrity. This position will utilize and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to help analyze, control, and minimize product variations. This QA role will identify the root cause of product/process nonconformance to specifications as well as assist or lead containment and corrective action activities.

Essential Functions:
• Troubleshoot particularly complex or troublesome production problems; e.g., manufacturing process variation
• May lead or take part in formal problem solving teams including completion of Corrective Action requests
• Look up blueprints on computer, read and understand tolerances, key product features and how to measure
• Perform basic dimensional inspections of parts utilizing calipers, micrometers, and various other hand held gauges
• Create, understand, and define statistical reports; e.g., histograms, control charts, etc.
• May recommend improvements in production methods through FMEA team or other methods as appropriate
• Conduct mathematical calculations of moderate complexity
• Support manufacturing's Nonconforming Material Process as Required
• Organize and direct quality spill and containment activities
• Perform internal ISO audits as directed
• Perform part audits
• Communicate quality concerns immediately to shift supervisors, process techs, machine operators and trimmers
• Clear communication of quality issues through EQMS, shift notes, and hand off meetings
• Perform x-ray evaluation of castings
• Perform CT scans and render data associated with the scans
• Perform CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspections
• Diagnose issues with X-ray or CMM
- May supervise 3 hourly employees
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
• Associates degree or post high school equivalent education in a specialized technical/scientific field - required (Experience with X-ray, CT, or CMM will be considered)
• Five or more years of experience in complex manufacturing operations and dimensional inspection techniques
Commitment to health and safety (both in the laboratory and in the plant)
• Able to perform basic mathematical calculations and basic statistics.
• Proficient knowledge of PC software including the latest Windows software applications
• Experience with data mining and ability to collect and transfer information into presentable formats (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
• Working knowledge of Blueprint and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Knowledge of pertinent manufacturing techniques; namely Die Cast and Lost Foam
• Verbal, written, and computer graphic communication skills necessary to effectively present data and information to internal and external customers, including management and engineering
• Ability to lead, direct, and instruct others in related job functions
• Thorough knowledge of inspection techniques, metrology methods, tolerances, blueprint reading, routings, S.P.C. techniques, personal computers, and general shop practices
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
• Ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutions
• Ability to guide supervision in making proper decisions relative to product and process control issues
• Ability to perform duties independently consulting supervisor for only occasional exceptions
• Must be able to pay close attention to detail
• Ability to be flexible and able to control diverse priorities and assignments
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays, as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
• Seek and maintain certification: ASQ Quality Auditor/Inspector/Technician - desired
• X-ray machine operation experience and x-ray interpretation of castings - preferred
Working Conditions:
This is an on-site role in Fond du Lac, WI during night shift hours.
The hiring range for this position is $47,000 - $65,200 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
