Safety Administrator


Reports to: Vice President of Safety and Employee Development

FLSA Status: Exempt

Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. unless otherwise dictated, (One (1) Hour Lunch)

Job Location: 3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, OH, 43207 - This position is primarily in-person.

General Overview: Assists as an administrative assistant in the safety department. Represents the company professionally to third-party providers, employees, and community organizations. This person should consistently demonstrate Integrity, Gratitude, Excellence, and Leadership.


Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support to the Safety team
  • Requests certificates from various training agencies and files them in Company’s software
  • Maintains safety statistics and responds to prequalification requests
  • Creates graphs, charts, and other visual displays to track Company’s safety performance
  • Attends department meetings, takes notes and shares information with those missing in attendance
  • Develops presentation materials for presentations the Safety department delivers
  • Reports incidents using the Company’s software and assists safety managers in tracking and trending the related data pulled to develop strategies to drive compliance
  • Forwards notification of incidents to project management teams, as needed
  • Communicates with field personnel to order, track, and maintain prescription glass program
  • Files various safety documentation as requested
  • Assigns cost codes to employee reimbursements and forwards to Finance for distribution
  • Maintains foreman’s report records
  • Promptly requests checks from Accounts Payable as needed
  • Orders, sets up, and coordinates lunches for Company meetings
  • Maintains tracking related to utility locate requests
  • Communicates with superintendents regarding utility locators and utility needs
  • Submits new OUPS tickets for new projects and work areas
  • Coordinates complex projects by scheduling meetings with facility owners and developing a marking schedule for utility coordination
  • Participates in industry-related organizations to maintain understanding of industry tools related to underground damage prevention
  • Knows and adheres to all company policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree preferred
  • Preferred experience with OHIO811 and the underground damage prevention process related to Ohio law
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative support experience preferred
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. (George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a Substance Use Prevention and Recovery Drug-Free Workplace and tests for marijuana)
  • Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement upon hire
  • Must maintain an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that meets the Company’s eligibility
