Job description

Driver – Madison, WI

The Driver primarily provides scheduled and unscheduled pickup and delivery of parts, supplies and material.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive Company vehicles defensively while following all laws and DOT regulations.
  • Be courteous and service-minded in dealing with customers.
  • Assist in loading and unloading material on vehicles, both in the shop and in the field.
  • Follow assigned scheduling of deliveries.
  • Check orders for accuracy and damage; check pack slips for special instructions.
  • Obtain signatures on delivery and pick-up tickets.
  • Take returned items to the return goods area with a copy of the pick-up ticket attached. If a customer refuses delivery of an item, inform the assigned person to update the paperwork. If a refusal occurs, please notify our manager before leaving the location.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations. A "Daily Vehicle Inspection Report" is required to be filled out before a vehicle can be driven each day.
  • Inform manager of shortages, overloads or damaged merchandise or customer complaints.
  • Maintain vehicle to ensure it is kept in a neat and clean condition. Remove empty skids, pallet jacks, carts, and debris from the truck. Refuel vehicle as directed and needed.
  • Responsible for completing safety training as assigned and complying with all safety policies including PPE policies.
  • Performs additional assignments as assigned by manager and maintains a teamwork attitude.

Qualifications:

  • Experience driving a larger commercial vehicle.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety precautions to be followed while operating a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to read a route map and operate a GPS system. (Required)
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with frequent lifting and or/carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Valid drivers license required.
