Job description

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for an EPIC Training and Communications Specialist I to join our HealthConnect Optimization & Physician Efficiency (HOPE) Team. This position is a full-time opportunity based out of our regional office located in Washington, D.C.
Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group is comprised of more than 1,700 Permanente physicians and nearly 300 staff professionals who come together to make a positive impact on the health and lives of more than 750,000 members in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
Reporting to the EPIC Technical Design and Training Manager, the EPIC Training and Communications Specialist supports the design, delivery, maintenance, and evaluation of training and communications related to EPIC/KP HealthConnect system workflows. You will work closely with the technical build team, physicians, and internal stakeholders to understand system changes, develop training materials, support physician efficiency, and help optimize the use of technical systems.
You can expect to:
  • Develop training materials, including tip sheets, troubleshooting guides, scripts, user manuals, eLearning modules, simulation videos, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Prepare training content and support curriculum updates related to new applications, system enhancements, module deployments, and upgrades.
  • Partner with physicians and internal teams to analyze clinic workflows and incorporate system changes into training and coaching materials.
  • Provide on-site training support, including one-on-one and group training sessions.
  • Support training assessments, evaluations, and learning activities to measure training effectiveness and identify ongoing learning needs.
  • Participate in product design reviews, release notes, system User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain user support webpages and assist with communications related to system changes, physician questions, and training needs.
  • Administer scheduling, logistics, documentation, and special projects within the training team as assigned.

What is required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • 1-3 years of EPIC training experience required; ambulatory experience preferred.
  • Proficiency or certification in EPIC Ambulatory and/or other EPIC applications preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.
  • Ability to travel for product training and travel locally required.
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with Camtasia, Captivate, and Snagit preferred.
  • Experience developing and delivering training using adult learning theory.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, presentation, and coaching skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and a creative problem-solving approach.
  • Excellent organizational and team-based skills, including active listening, reflection, and feedback.
  • Candidates must either currently live in or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
  • Must provide documentation for the influenza vaccine as a condition of employment.

The starting annual salary for this position ranges from $70,551 to $88,189 depending on circumstances including an applicant's skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, training, market data, and other relevant factors. In addition to the salary range above, MAPMG offers rich benefits that add substantial value to the total compensation package.
