Job description

St. Catherine of Siena School is seeking an on-call substitute teacher for our Kindergarten-8th grade for the 2026-2027 school year. Located in the beautiful Maple Leaf community of north Seattle, our school offers a competitive wage and a welcoming, inclusive environment. Applicants need to have a minimum one year's teaching experience working with K-8 students, preferably in a teaching capacity in a school environment.

Schedule: Hours vary based on availability and need. Typical substituting hours are 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM - 12:30 PM. This schedule varies based on staff absences. You will receive call/text daily by 5:45 AM if a substitute is needed for the day, and furture scheduled days for substituting will be communicated as needs arise.

Position Summary:

The substitute teacher teaches lessons based on substitute lesson plans, provides student support, encourages student's progress, and assists in managing the learning environment.

Duties include (but arenโ€™t limited to):

  • Assisting and working collaboratively with other staff
  • Working with students who have a diverse set of needs and learning styles
  • Helping to maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment
  • Teaching students in various grades
  • Close out the school day and prepare the classroom for the morning
  • Promoting healthy peer interactions between children of all abilities
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times
