SUMMARY
The Supervisor has full responsibility for the daily operation of the manufacturing plant including production of orders, scheduling, enforcement of company policies, and coordination of all projects. Overseas all production related employees, by maintaining good employee relations, and fostering a well-trained and motivated staff. Focus on high quality products, paying special attention to customers' requirements and satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises employees in the performance of their duties and provides direction, feedback and constructive criticism to optimize performance.
  • Analyzes department needs and delegates tasks and projects for productivity on a timely basis.
  • Engages team by overseeing employee related issues such as communication concerns, teamwork incidents, performance reviews, and planning.
  • Ensures safety of all employees on shift.
  • Oversees all employee training and development by managing cross-training and retraining for optimal productivity, coverage and safety compliance.
  • Understands employment laws and oversees all employee timecard entries, coordinates attendance and time-off requests in a timely manner.
  • Organizes and works with maintenance for equipment upkeep and PMs.
  • Communicates across all departments for coordination of production schedule and fulfillment.
  • Understands and abides by quality standards for all products produced. Maintains good housekeeping in areas assigned.
  • Responsible for product quality control and perform quality checks.
  • Manages coil inventory, reporting shortages and maintaining a First-In, First-Out (FIFO) approach.
  • Oversees and manages all traffic, receiving and production department functions.

SAFETY
  • Works safely and follows all safety rules and operational procedures.
  • Wears and maintains all required PPE.
  • Understands all safety devices and their operation.
  • Notify management if safety devices are malfunctioning or missing prior to operation.
  • Safely operates all lifting devices by manufacturing specifications

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervises leads, hourly manufacturing, and shipping employees.
  • Spend most of his/her time on the production floor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related area preferred.
  • 3+ years in steel management or steel related products - strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years supervisory experience, strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communications.
  • Bilingual in Spanish - strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of production and manufacturing operations
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.
