Leidos' Defense Systems Manufacturing Segment is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer Lead to join our Defense Manufacturing Integration & Test team located in Huntsville, AL. As a Test Engineer you will participate in leading in the planning/execution of electrical floor operations and will be responsible for developing automated test scripts, procedures, and other documentation needed to conduct missile instrument testing at all factory site locations. This position will require frequent coordination with Planning & Production Control, Engineers, and Operations Leads to ensure that testing will occur as planned.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Managing Manufacturing Orders to meet project schedules.
  • Define and Implement test procedures & techniques to all sites to support manufacturing
  • Use of MES software (Solumina) to implement, track, monitor, and control manufacturing processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement projects. Identify and reduce risks in the production processes.
  • Development and ownership for production test strategy to ensure appropriate and complete testing of all assembly levels - PCBA / sub-assemblies / final assembly
  • Work with other teams, especially avionics and software, to gather requirements, design test plans, determine applicable test cases, develop procedures and prepare for running the tests. Refine processes based on lessons learned
  • Design and Develop test equipment needs for volume manufacturing - Implementation, Qualification, Certification, Usage, Calibrations and Maintenance
  • Develop test software/scripts to ensure test coverage is maximized and optimized
  • Develop test coverage map
  • Evaluate non-conformances data to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations Leads, and Inventory Control.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity to ensure test systems are secure
  • Interface with Government Customer and/or DCMA
  • Manage ISO9001/AS9100 processes within our department.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 8 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Basic experience with Electrical and Electromechanical component testing.
  • Experience with test processes, procedure development & implementation.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in conducting and executing electronics and Missile tests, including functional testing (front-end, back-end, and performance testing), baseline ambient, full functional, thermal vacuum, system end to end testing, and ground station compatibility testing
  • Experience with test operations including set-up calibration & operation of GSE used in the test process.
  • Practical experience with the design, fabrication, assembly, and qualification of hardware for use in the testing of space products.
  • Experience with various testing standards, and methodologies to include manual and automated testing. Ability to prepare complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports to demonstrate compliance to system requirements
  • Experience in project scheduling, Agile or Windchill configuration management & Solumina MES software.
  • Deltek, Costpoint ERP & MRP, Solumina, Windchill
  • Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
