Job Overview:
The Manufacturing Test Engineer (MTE) develops, implements, and maintains engineering methods, procedures, instructions, and systems of Unigen manufacturing test equipment. MTE estimates manufacturing test (MT) cost, determines requirements, and coordinates the release of new and/or existing MT services. Reports to Test Engineering Manager. Located in Newark, CA.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Resolve test yield problems by performing analysis of root causes, developing and coordinating corrective action measures, and monitoring improvements.
  • Trains and instructs test technicians and test operators on test hardware and/or software, as well as proper problem-solving techniques for functional test and ICT test.
  • To participate in new or sustain product transfer.
  • To work with the sustaining team (HQ team) to improve the product test yield from a test improvement standpoint.
  • To work with the customer collaboratively to improve the product test methodology and yield analysis.
  • Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products, systems, or software.
  • Interface and confer with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product issues, test system issues, incomplete test data, data interpretation, or coding issues.
  • Analyze and interpret test data, prepare a technical report for the development team, management personnel, or customer.
  • Coordinate tester and test fixture preventive maintenance and calibration according to the schedule with the test technician, customer, or a third-party calibration.
  • Perform new tester qualification, buyoff, and GR&R before production.
  • Generate the work instruction, procedure, and preventive maintenance procedure.
  • Tester/Test equipment utilization and downtime improvement.
  • Manage the tester/test equipment spare part inventory.


Key Job Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing test engineering experience in the EMS industry.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows (All platforms) and Linux/Unix equivalent OS.
  • Proficiency in common programming languages, like Python, C/C++, C#, VB.net, and equivalent.
  • Good at product-level debugging, understands schematics, and proficient in using measurement equipment like a Multimeter, LCR meter, and Oscilloscope.
  • Understanding Flash memory and Solid State Drive technology adds an advantage.
  • Familiar with multiple protocols like I2C, SPI, JTAG, SMBus, RS232, RS485, and Boundary Scan.
  • Extensive understanding of analog and digital circuits.
