Job description

The Vice President of Manufacturing Solutions provides executive leadership for Interstates' Manufactured Solutions, including panel, prefabrication, modular, and skid-based offerings. This role is responsible for setting the long-term vision, strategic direction, and growth agenda for the portfolio, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives, client needs, and construction delivery strategies. The VP leads the development of scalable, profitable, and differentiated manufacturing solutions that improve safety, schedule certainty, quality, cost efficiency, and execution consistency for Interstates and its clients. This position partners closely with manufacturing operations, construction, controls, sales, and executive leadership to shape strategy, guide investment decisions, and ensure the Manufactured Solutions business expands in a sustainable and market-responsive way. While manufacturing operations leaders are responsible for day-to-day execution, this role establishes strategic priorities, business model direction, and growth roadmap for the offer category.
Key Responsibilities:
Offer Category Strategy & Direction

  • Define and evolve the strategic direction for Manufactured Solutions.
  • Establish portfolio priorities across panels, prefabrication, modular, and skid solutions.
  • Identify market opportunities, strategic adjacencies, and emerging trends that support business expansion. 
  • Determine which offerings should be developed, scaled, enhanced, repositioned, or sunset. 
  • Align strategy with enterprise growth and construction objectives. 

Product & Market Leadership

  • Own and maintain the Manufactured Solutions portfolio roadmap.
  • Lead product and offer category strategy, including target markets, client segments, and value propositions. 
  • Direct market positioning, differentiation, and commercial strategy for each solution offering. 
  • Ensure each offering has a defined value proposition, target customer, and sales channel.
  • Guide innovation priorities and evaluate opportunities for new solution development. 

Business Model & Growth Leadership

  • Lead strategy for standalone solutions sold directly to end clients, including OEMs and strategic accounts.
  • Define how Manufactured Solutions integrate into project delivery models across NCDS, RES, and IA&I. 
  • Evaluate and shape business models that maximize client value, margin performance, and delivery scalability.
  • Support diversification of revenue streams and expansion into new markets or channels. 

Financial & Growth Performance

  • Establish and manage revenue, margin, and market growth targets.
  • Evaluate business performance, investment opportunities, and return on capital for new products, technology, and equipment. 
  • Partner with operations and finance leadership on demand planning, workforce planning, and capital investments. 
  • Drive profitable, sustainable growth of the offer category.

Operational Alignment & Capacity Planning

  • Translate market demand and strategic priorities into long-range production, facility, and talent requirements.
  • Partner with manufacturing operations leadership to align capacity planning, resource strategy, and technology investment.
  • Ensure operational readiness for new offerings, growth initiatives, and strategic customer commitments.
  • Collaborate on process improvements and enabling capabilities that improve scalability and reliability.

Market & Client Development

  • Identify priority industries and client segments.
  • Develop market-focused value propositions to support expansion.
  • Support OEM and strategic partnerships.
  • Ensure solutions deliver client value in cost certainty, schedule, safety, quality, and sustainability.

Enterprise Collaboration & Influence

  • Collaborate with construction, controls, sales, and manufacturing operations leaders.
  • Ensure Manufactured Solutions strengthen and support core construction services.
  • Advocate for offsite manufacturing as a strategic capability across the organization.

Essential Skills, Experience & Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field. Or equivalent combination of education and leadership experience. 
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, construction, operations, product strategy, or a related industry. 
  • Proven experience leading a portfolio of products or a defined offer category. 
  • Strong knowledge of the manufacturing and construction industries. 
  • Ability to analyze market trends and translate insights into effective product strategies. 
  • Solid financial acumen, including evaluating investments and business opportunities. 
  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross functional teams. 
  • Experience supporting businesses with multiple offers or sales channels. 
  • Background in developing and executing market expansion and growth strategies.

Location: This role can be based out of any of these office locations in Sioux Center IA, Omaha NE, or Sioux Falls SD offices.

Travel: Travel is expected to be 25% between our various Manufacturing locations.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $160,000- $200,000+ benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job related skills, training, education, and experience.
