Job description

Elmira Stamping & Manufacturing is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Quality Manager to oversee quality efforts throughout our manufacturing operation. This is a working management position in a fast-paced manufacturing environment-you will spend significant time on the production floor working directly with our team, inspecting parts, addressing quality concerns, and supporting production.

The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing and quality experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to confidently communicate with both employees and customers. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable using measurement tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers, rulers, etc.), reviewing/interpreting blueprints, and communicating with customers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day quality activities throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Perform and oversee in-process and final inspections to ensure products meet customer requirements and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Use quality tools including calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Identify, document, and investigate quality issues and non-conforming product.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts.
  • Work closely with Production to resolve quality concerns and improve processes.
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding quality questions, specification clarifications, order updates, and concerns.
  • Respond to customer emails and provide timely follow-up.
  • Maintain quality records, inspection documentation, and other required reports.
  • Provide guidance and support to Quality Technicians, Inspectors, and production personnel.
  • Train employees on quality requirements and inspection procedures.
  • Monitor quality trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with company quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in a quality management or manufacturing quality role
  • Strong manufacturing background and mechanical aptitude.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions preferred.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and production employees.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to navigate manufacturing/quality systems.
  • Ability to balance hands-on production-floor work with computer-based documentation and customer communication.
  • A college degree is not required; relevant hands-on manufacturing and quality experience is highly valued.

Compensation

$65,000–$75,000 per year

Compensation will be based on the selected candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
