About the Role

I'm partnering with a leading U.S. building materials manufacturer that is looking to hire a Procurement & Materials Manager to support two major manufacturing facilities in the Albuquerque, NM area.

This is a key plant leadership role responsible for purchasing, procurement, materials management, warehousing, inventory control, supplier relationships, and process improvement across both sites.

The position will work closely with both Plant Managers and will play an important role in ensuring the facilities have the parts, materials, services, contractors, and vendor support needed to operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing, procurement, warehousing, inventory, and materials management across two manufacturing plants.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier agreements, service contracts, and goods/services purchasing.
  • Lead vendor selection, competitive bidding, sourcing, and contract management.
  • Support plant operations, maintenance, outages, repairs, and capital project purchasing needs.
  • Drive inventory reduction initiatives while maintaining critical spare parts and operational readiness.
  • Manage warehouse processes, cycle counts, min/max levels, consumables, and material flow.
  • Partner with plant leadership, maintenance, operations, finance, corporate procurement, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Develop and track procurement and inventory KPIs to improve performance.
  • Support annual budgeting, monthly accruals, cost projections, and long-term plant planning.
  • Improve purchasing processes, systems, controls, and overall procurement discipline.
  • Ensure all procurement activity is ethical, compliant, and aligned with company policy.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, purchasing, materials management, inventory control, or supply chain within a manufacturing, industrial, construction materials, or heavy production environment.

This person needs to be hands-on, plant-focused, commercially sharp, and comfortable working directly with operations and maintenance teams.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, contract management, materials management, or supply chain.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production, construction materials, industrial, or plant environment.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and contract management skills.
  • Experience with inventory control, warehouse management, parts/materials planning, and cost reduction.
  • Ability to support multiple sites, departments, or operational teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with plant leadership, finance, maintenance, operations, and suppliers.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, finance, engineering, technical discipline, or a related field preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Building materials, gypsum, cement, aggregates, mining, or heavy industrial manufacturing experience.
  • ERP/procurement system experience.
  • Oracle Cloud experience would be a plus.
  • CPM, CPP, APICS, or similar professional certification.
  • Experience supporting contractors, capital projects, maintenance purchasing, or critical spare parts programs.

Why This Opportunity?

This is a great opportunity to join a stable, well-established U.S. manufacturing business in a visible leadership role supporting two key production facilities.

The company offers long-term stability, strong operational backing, career development potential, and the opportunity to make a direct impact on procurement strategy, inventory control, vendor performance, and plant reliability.
