Job description

Ensuring Chart’s Success…

The Manufacturing Engineer will support Engineer-to-Order (ETO) products built in Chart’s new Teddy 2 facility located in Theodore, AL. The selected candidate will leverage their extensive knowledge of manufacturing and welding processes to improve plant efficiencies and help achieve site goals, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality. This role requires the candidate to be onsite full-time.

What Will You Do?
  • Plan, organize and implement systems and procedures that will enhance manufacturing production.
  • Conduct cause and effect studies and implement corrective measures.
  • Assess production processes to improve product consistency, standardize work procedures, flow, etc. 
  • Implement Lean concepts throughout the plant including 5S, Visual Work, Kanban, etc.
  • Create and manage technical training programs for production employees.
  • Ensure all aspects of new product introduction and changes to existing products are properly communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Interface with various departments in coordinating technical information relating to specific projects.
  • Project Management of capital equipment projects:  identify equipment improvements, ensure on time delivery and within budget.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…
  • This position will require the ability to move around the production floor to investigate issues with the production equipment or manufactured and purchased parts.
  • Lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, other related tasks in an office setting
Your Experience Should Be...
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a manufacturing, mechanical or industrial engineering role.
  • Your engineering experience must include working with welding and fabrication processes.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, AutoCad, ProE.  Prefer experience in SolidWorks.
  • Understanding of factory metrics and Lean (Operational Excellence) at a minimum with Six Sigma experience a plus.
  • Proficient in ASME Code standards.
  • Proven experience in designing assembly and welding fixtures for manufacturing. 
  • Experience managing several projects at once.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting all deadlines.
