We are seeking a hybrid Manufacturing Process Engineer & CAM Specialist to bridge offline CAD/CAM programming with direct, hands-on floor execution. This role will drive end-to-end manufacturing process development—from initial CAD translation and 2D/3D CAM programming, to machine-side setup, program prove-outs, and operator training on large turning and milling equipment.
Key Responsibilities

Process Development & CAM Programming
  • Translate customer CAD files and develop optimized 2D/3D CNC programs for multi-axis equipment (3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers, vertical/horizontal lathes).
  • Prove out machining processes for large, heavy, and variable cast components (e.g., valve bodies and critical sealing surfaces).
  • Perform offline CAM programming (SolidCAM preferred) as well as manual/G-code and conversational editing directly at the machine.
  • Design and modify custom tooling, workholding, and quick-change fixtures.
Floor Execution, Optimization & Support
  • Set up and operate CNC machines for high-mix, low-volume production and first-article runs.
  • Train machinists and operators on program edits, machine setups, and standard work procedures.
  • Optimize feeds, speeds, cycle times, and setup times to maximize throughput, quality, and safety.
  • Manage tool database (e.g., Tool Boss), machine probing, tool vending, and program file version control.
  • Develop setup sheets, standard operating procedures, BOMs, and part numbers.
Qualifications & Requirements

Experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on machining experience with a strong focus on turning and CNC operations.
  • 3+ years of experience in CAM programming (SolidCAM preferred) and fixture design.
  • Demonstrated background working with large-diameter castings, valve components, or heavy equipment.
Technical Skills
  • Strong proficiency in G-code, conversational programming, manual CNC edits, and 2D/3D CAD/CAM software.
  • Ability to read complex engineering blueprints, GD&T, and inspection reports.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks, structural/tooling design, and machine probing implementation
