Job description

Plant Manager – Millwork Manufacturing

Location: San Bernardino, CA
Salary: $140,000–$170,000 annually
Schedule: Full-time, onsite; plant operations begin at 5:00 a.m.

Legacy Career Solutions is recruiting for an experienced Plant Manager to lead a large custom millwork and residential door jamb manufacturing operation in San Bernardino, California.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing professional with deep experience in millwork, doors, windows, architectural woodwork, cabinetry, or related wood products manufacturing.

The Plant Manager will oversee the custom millwork operation, residential jamb production, shipping, receiving, warehouse activities, quality, safety, and overall plant performance. This position will lead approximately 75–90 employees through a team of 6–7 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for plant operations.
  • Oversee custom millwork and residential jamb manufacturing.
  • Lead production, warehouse, shipping, receiving, quality, and safety functions.
  • Manage and develop department supervisors and production leaders.
  • Ensure production schedules, customer deadlines, and quality standards are met.
  • Improve labor efficiency, workflow, production output, and material utilization.
  • Identify and reduce waste, scrap, delays, and unnecessary operating costs.
  • Monitor plant performance metrics and establish accountability for results.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety policies.
  • Partner with sales, estimating, engineering, purchasing, project management, and Human Resources.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and efficient material flow throughout the facility.
  • Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience in millwork, doors, windows, architectural woodwork, cabinetry, wood products, or a closely related manufacturing industry.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, or senior manufacturing leader.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a large manufacturing workforce.
  • Experience overseeing both custom manufacturing and higher-volume production environments.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, labor management, quality, safety, and inventory control.
  • Experience managing warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations.
  • Ability to read architectural drawings, blueprints, shop drawings, and production schedules.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in San Bernardino and support an early-morning manufacturing schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in architectural millwork or residential door component manufacturing.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience managing 50 or more employees.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
