Job description

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a culture is in place that puts the safety and welfare of our employees ahead of all other goals.
  • Leverage the ERP system (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or equivalent) to drive production scheduling, inventory accuracy, work order execution, BOM and routing integrity, and cost reporting; ensure transactions are completed accurately and on time at the shop floor level.
  • Plan and execute capital and continuous improvement projects from concept through commissioning defining scope, schedule, budget, and resources, managing contractors and cross-functional stakeholders, and reporting progress against milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop the plant leadership pipeline by coaching supervisors and leads, delivering structured performance feedback, building individual development plans, and driving cross-training and succession planning across the operation.
  • Owns plant P&L, including building and managing the annual operating budget, forecasting, standard cost and variance analysis, and capital planning, driving margin improvement against committed targets
  • Establish and maintain a high-quality work force through recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and ensuring accountability to enable the Samuel culture.
  • Sets a high standard for ethics and compliance, ensuring business processes adhere to our business conduct policies and procedures.  
  • Executes plans for quality and process excellence that ensures consistent quality assurance and process excellence procedures, controls, and feedback.
  • Lead the implementation of tactics to achieve improvement in on-time delivery, yield improvement, scrap reduction, and productivity.
  • Monitor KPIs to ensure that safety, quality, productivity, and costs metrics are being met, put action plan in place when metrics are not met.
  • Hands On and floor presence to support front line supervisors and leads. 
  • Leads team to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual performance goals.
  • Drive and support employees training programs and job certifications across production teams.
  • Works with managers across all functional lines to accomplish organizational objectives.
  • Exhibits and promotes behaviors on the plant floor that leads to an engaged work force.
  • Deploy and lead team-based problem-solving groups using modern methods (DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, Brainstorming, etc.) to eliminate productivity and quality issues. 
  • Ensure that all employees know and adhere to the Sierra Aluminum policy and requirements. 
  • Other duties as required.

Education 

  • Bachelors of Science degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business or related field or 5-10 years equivalent experience on the role.

  • Customer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • 5 years minimum experience in plant operational management and/or an equivalent large segment of a business. 

Working Conditions

  • This position works in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment in all weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 75 lbs. occasionally
  • Bend, twist, climb, squat, kneel throughout shift Able to work in extreme heat or cold conditions.
  • Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
  • Must be able to handle both large pieces and small pieces of aluminum extrusions.

The annual base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $162,000. If you are hired, your annual base pay will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base pay range for the role.
