Job description

Manufacturing Engineer, 1st shift
RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:
Responsible for supporting the current manufacturing and facilitating the continuous improvement
processes associated with the manufacturing methods and processes in the plant facility. Also develops
solutions for production problems related to materials, processes, and tooling. Supports new products and
programs by developing new processes, designing tooling and machinery, and developing production
controls. Responsible for set-up of new equipment, ensures proper operation of the new equipment, and to
teach others the proper use of this equipment. Accountable for applying sound economic methods to
equipment and space utilization to meet design and quality criteria with the lowest expense and consistent
with the facilities financial and non-financial objectives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
1. Reviews specifications and bid proposals and cost estimate requests to establish the feasibility of accepting orders. Determines manufacturability, investment requirements, product cost and delivery schedules.
2. Develops processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new products and programs; supervises their assembly and proofing.
3. Supports production to resolve any manufacturing issues.
4. Coordinates new product development and cost reduction activities.
5. Manages capital equipment planning and procurement activities.
6. Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots manufacturing support software.
7. Plans, supervises and executes work measurement, and defines operations and operation balance to TAKT time.
8. Plans, justifies and implements facility changes to produce the forecasted volume of product economically.
9. Participates in and leads Kaizen events.
10. Responsible for Labor Routings, Capacity Planning, TPM, and Cost Estimating.
11. Responsible for Capital justification, CNC/Programming, Tool Design and Selection.
12. Responsible for reporting work related injuries and near misses to supervision.
13. Responsible for wearing all required PPE and following applicable safety/environmental rules.
14. Responsible for correcting or reporting unsafe conditions observed within the plant.
REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with one (1) to three (3) years of progressive, hands on manufacturing engineering experience. This position also requires knowledge of formal problem solving methods along with experience with financial controls and product costing. Previous experience Plant Operations Manager, Plant Continuous Improvement Manager, or Plant Manager
with new products and process introductions along with a working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and procedures is also required. In the absence of a four (4) degree in engineering, a minimum of six (6) years experience is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.
$76,000 - 105,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
