Plant Manager
Manufacturing Operations Manager
Job summary:
This role supports a high‑volume manufacturing environment focused on producing quality‑driven consumer and industrial products. The Plant Manager oversees site-wide quality systems, customer specifications, supplier compliance, and internal process controls. The position plays a key role in improving product consistency, operational efficiency, and regulatory adherence, while contributing to broader plant initiatives related to safety and performance.
Responsibilities:
* Verify that initial production output meets all specifications before full-scale manufacturing begins.
* Communicate daily production goals and review performance with operators and supervisors.
* Lead continuous improvement efforts across quality, efficiency, and safety initiatives.
* Train and coach staff to reinforce work instructions and improve consistency.
* Partner with production and quality teams to maintain a clean, organized facility.
* Oversee staffing, attendance, scheduling, and time-off approvals.
* Collaborate with scheduling and purchasing to maintain balanced inventory levels.
* Ensure compliance with GMP-related procedures and train employees as needed.
* Utilize ERP systems for operational tracking and reporting.
* Ensure all production, quality, and safety documentation is accurate and complete.
* Actively participate in safety programs and enforce all safety policies.
* Troubleshoot production or equipment issues and escalate concerns when necessary.
* Provide leadership and accountability for hourly staff, supervisors, and union personnel.
* Work with upper management to deepen knowledge of equipment, labor relations, HR processes, and upstream production functions.
* Develop working familiarity with major manufacturing and converting equipment.
Requirements:
* 5-7 years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably overseeing multiple production lines.
* Ability to perform effectively in a high-speed, high-volume environment.
* Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with planners, supervisors, and production staff.
* Ability and willingness to complete required medical evaluations and drug/alcohol screenings.
* Bilingual ability is preferred.
* Experience supervising teams of 30+ employees, including temporary labor.
* Prior experience working within a union environment is preferred.
* Highly self-motivated with strong initiative and sense of urgency.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills.
* Goal-driven mindset with focus on measurable performance outcomes.
* Willingness to work overtime when required.
