Description:

Weyerhaeuser Company is seeking full-time entry level Operations Team Members to join our world-class high-performance team based Oriented Strand Board Mill located in Grayling, Michigan.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking a long-term hourly manufacturing career in a modern, high-performance mill environment. Team members work in a safe, team-oriented manufacturing plant where they operate equipment, support production processes, maintain quality standards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Functions:

  • Responsible for the daily operation of manufacturing equipment that produces oriented strand board.
  • As a Plant Team Member, you will perform regular Preventive Maintenance and clean-up on equipment
  • Work effectively in a team environment.
  • Problem solves and troubleshoots equipment and issues on a regular basis.
  • Regularly involved in process improvement projects.
  • Operate forklifts and other mobile equipment to manage product flow.
  • Perform quality checks and ensure production of a quality product.
  • Complete shift paperwork and recordkeeping.
  • Attend team meetings and regular skills training sessions.
  • Responsible for many items traditionally managed by leadership such as managing performance, conducting training, capital projects and leading safety.
  • Weyerhaeuser Grayling team members work unsupervised and make team decisions.
  • Initiative, communication and teamwork skills are very important in this position.
Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule (sample schedule - 4 nights on, 3 off, 3 days on, 1 off, 3 nights on, 3 off, 4 days on. In one month, a team works 14 days. One week is a 36.75 hour week and the next is a 49-hour week. You get 7 days off in a row; approximately 16 days off a month.)
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience in self-directed team environment is a plus.
  • Able to perform basic math and use computers.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment testing process.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, production, operator, laborer, machine operator, equipment operator, forklift operator or mill experience is preferred but not required.
