Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Department: Quality Assurance

Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager

Supervises: N/A

Summary/Objectives: Supports manufacturing engineers by helping improve production processes, maintain equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure products are made efficiently and meet quality standards. Assists in the development, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes. This role works closely with engineers, production teams, and quality personnel to optimize production efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain high-quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Assist manufacturing engineers in developing and improving production processes.
  • Set up, test, and maintain manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality at assigned work location
  • Monitor production operations and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Troubleshot equipment, tooling, and production issues.
  • Collect and analyze production data to support engineering projects.
  • Create and update work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct time studies and workflow analyses
  • Support new product introductions and process validation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with the safety, quality, and production departments to resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and production departments to resolve manufacturing problems.
  • Participate in and/or lead continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.

  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve equipment and operational issues.
  • Proficient in data analysis to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
  • Experienced in equipment setup, operation, and preventive maintenance.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures and standards to ensure product compliance
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Skilled in preparing accurate documentation, reports, and operational records
  • Effective team collaborator with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.


Education and/or Experience:

Required:

  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Basic understanding of CAD software and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with PLCs, CNC machines, robotics, or automated production equipment.
  • Knowledge of ERP and manufacturing execution systems (MES)
  • Certification in manufacturing or quality-related disciplines.

The employee is required to stand for long periods of time and occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Required Personal Protective Equipment includes, but is not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, respirator mask, and coveralls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne contaminants, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Work environment is not climate-controlled. The noise level may exceed permissible exposure limit and hearing protection may be required.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-Time. Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00AM – 5:00PM. Hours are subject to change at any time.


Travel:Travel is expected for this position.
