Powell is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Southeast Houston! Our Manufacturing Engineers are the process owners that design and improve processes and procedures used for the manufacturing of Powell engineered to order products. This position is required to identify and implement processes that improve the safety, quality, and operating efficiency in a manner that supports the objectives of the Business Unit. ย ย ย ย Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge ย  ย  ย  ย of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  soliciting observations from operators.
ย ย ย ย Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, ย  ย  ย  and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
ย ย ย ย Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย equipment layout.
ย ย ย ย Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.

Job Requirements


ย ย ย ย BS Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
ย ย ย ย Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineer role.
ย ย ย ย Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills using Oracle and MS Office Suite.
ย ย ย ย Demonstrated success with specifying, implementing, and manufacturing equipment.
ย ย ย ย Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
ย ย ย ย Advanced knowledge using drafting/CAD skills with the ability to create and modify Factory Layouts.
ย ย ย ย Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality System.
ย ย ย ย Experience with either the Toyota Production System or Lean Manufacturing.
ย ย ย ย Project Management experience, leading multi-disciplined teams.
ย ย ย ย Proven track record of completing process improvements from conception through final implementation ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย and ramp-up.
ย ย ย ย Familiar with statistical test procedures and corrective action techniques.
ย ย ย ย Excellent mechanical and electrical systems aptitude. Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and servo ย  ย  ย  ย  ย  ย positioning systems, as well as, and machine controls.
