The Impact You'll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the safe and efficient manufacturing of a primary process area within the Knoxville, Iowa facility. Primary objectives will be to deliver results in Safety, Service, Quality, Cost, and Engagement.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Driving cost and productivity improvements by leading Continuous Improvement projects with a variety of toolsets, includingstandard work development, Lean & Six Sigma methodologies, tier reviews, and kaizens
  • Development and implementation of cross-functional projects, plans, and programs in support of business and strategic plans new process start-ups, new process technology integration, aggressive cost reduction, and supply chain improvement using Continuous Improvement tools
  • Proactively communicates project direction and status to appropriate personnel
  • Engagement and involvement in daily operations to meet service targets, including direction/support of maintenance and division engineering activities
  • Realize growth opportunities by guiding new product introduction efforts and completing experimental runs
  • Representing 3M Knoxville during internal and external customer interactions and audits

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited university
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
  • Two (2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in leading multi-functional teams through complex projects from planning to completion
  • Experience in supporting new product development and commercialization.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or Aerospace Industry
  • Self-starter/self-directed that leads with high energy and passion

Travel: May include up to 5% Domestic
