Job description

Position Summary

The Engineering Technician will design, program, manufacture, and verify a variety of programs, setups, and fixtures for NC machines and offline processes. They will also assist Production and Quality as a technical resource for trouble shooting and applications assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Creation and verification of setups, fixtures, and programs for NC machines and offline processes.
  • Assist in the training of production employees on setups, fixtures, and machine operations.
  • Trouble shooting and applications assistance on machining, burning, forming, and welding processes.
  • Process improvement identification and implementation.
  • Modeling and exportation of new parts and rev changes.
  • Assists the Manufacturing Engineer with developing, managing, and implementing projects as needed.
  • Assists and guides others on the team to meet project specifications.
  • Assists engineers in maintaining tool crib. Stocking and issuing of consumable inventory.
  • Assists with other projects assigned from manufacturing engineers or management team.
  • Assists in the analysis of space requirements, preparation of layouts for new equipment and projects, and evaluation of flow of materials to improve operating efficiency and reduction of errors.
  • Maintains engineering/fixture building area, including but is not limited to cleaning, PM equipment, and keeping the area organized.
  • Responsible for providing error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of the position.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, handle special projects, perform clerical tasks, and assist in other departments including Quality Assurance and Production.
Skills and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 2 or 4 year degree preferred.
  • Five years of manufacturing experience required. Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years of NC Machine operations required. VMC or HMC experience preferred.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook).
  • Strong math and problem solving skills with the use of geometry and trigonometry.
  • Able to read and use common measuring devices.
  • Able to read and understand prints and drawings.
  • Able to work in a high-paced, manufacturing environment.
  • Able to work as part of a team toward common goals.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Speak conversational English.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. repetitively throughout the course of a shift.

  • Ability to bend, sit, stand, twist, and stoop for prolonged periods of time.

  • Ability to walk 2-5 miles throughout a shift.

  • Have good vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses.

  • Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.

  • Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin- fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
  • Oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
