Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for identifying, investigating, and resolving issues that arise throughout the manufacturing process. Key responsibilities include analyzing production challenges, determining root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Solutions may involve design modifications, process improvements, equipment implementation, development of new manufacturing methods, enhanced quality control measures, creation of work instructions, and other continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. This role collaborates closely with multiple departments across the organization and requires the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct root cause investigations for non-conforming products and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring issues.
  • Design, specify, develop, and implement tooling, fixtures, and equipment required to support manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of production fixtures and tooling.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions, procedures, and process documentation that clearly define production methods and quality requirements.
  • Create and maintain visual workmanship standards and key process documentation to support consistent product quality.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to identify, evaluate, and implement product and process improvements that address manufacturing challenges and enhance efficiency.
  • Research, evaluate, justify, and implement new equipment, technologies, and manufacturing methods to improve productivity, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide technical training and ongoing support to production personnel on manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and best practices.
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing work cells, including equipment selection, facility layout, workflow optimization, and process validation.
  • Provide technical support related to vendor-supplied tooling, equipment, and manufacturing processes, including supplier evaluations and performance assessments.
  • Perform periodic audits, inspections, and evaluations of manufacturing equipment, processes, and work areas to ensure compliance with quality and operational standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, delivery, and operational efficiency.
  • Perform special projects and provide additional technical support as assigned by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, design, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis methodologies and structured problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience driving process improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Wheatstone bridge circuits, strain gage technology, and fundamental electronic principles.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across multiple departments.
  • Commitment to following established procedures, maintaining documentation, and supporting quality standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3โ€“5 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role supporting production operations, process development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with force measurement devices, load cells, torque transducers, strain gages, or related sensor technologies.
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other continuous improvement certification and training.
  • Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing data analysis.
