Manufacturing Data Analytics information

What is manufacturing data analytics?

Manufacturing data analytics refers to the use of data analysis tools and techniques to collect, interpret, and leverage data generated during manufacturing processes. This approach helps companies identify inefficiencies, predict equipment failures, optimize production, and improve product quality. By analyzing data from sensors, machines, and other sources, manufacturers can make informed decisions that boost productivity and reduce costs. Overall, manufacturing data analytics is key for driving digital transformation and competitiveness in the manufacturing industry.

How do manufacturing data analytics professionals collaborate with production and engineering teams to drive process improvements?

Manufacturing Data Analytics professionals work closely with production and engineering teams by analyzing process data, identifying inefficiencies, and presenting actionable insights. They often participate in cross-functional meetings, where they translate complex data findings into practical recommendations for process optimization, quality improvement, or cost reduction. Effective communication and a collaborative approach are essential, as these professionals must understand operational challenges and ensure data-driven solutions are feasible and aligned with business goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in manufacturing data analytics, and why are they important?

To thrive in Manufacturing Data Analytics, you need a strong background in statistics, data analysis, and manufacturing processes, often supported by a degree in engineering, data science, or a related field. Familiarity with data visualization tools (such as Tableau or Power BI), programming languages like Python or R, and ERP/MES systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex insights clearly are essential soft skills. These competencies enable professionals to drive process improvements, optimize production, and support data-driven decision-making in manufacturing environments.

Sr. Manager, Data & Analytics
Location: Leesburg, VA (hybrid)
Company: VB Spine
Looking for a career where your work truly matters? At VB Spine, you'll be part of a mission-focused team that supports surgeons during life-changing spinal procedures. We're looking for a driven, hands-on analytics leader ready to modernize our data capabilities, rationalize legacy systems, and deliver actionable insights that power manufacturing, supply chain, commercial, finance, and operational excellence in a dynamic, fast-paced medical device environment.
What You'll Do:
  • Define and own a 12-24 month Data & Analytics modernization roadmap aligned with VB Spine's business priorities and post-separation operating model, including rationalization of legacy Stryker lift-and-shift reports, datasets, and processes.
  • Establish the future-state analytics architecture, data platform strategy, semantic models, reporting standards, and self-service capabilities while partnering with Enterprise Applications, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and business functions.
  • Oversee delivery of dashboards, reports, datasets, and analytical models (with emphasis on manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and finance) using Power BI, Databricks, SQL, Python, and cloud technologies.
  • Drive analytics governance, data quality initiatives, KPI standardization, and compliance standards suitable for a regulated medical device environment.
  • Lead, develop, and scale a team of data analysts and engineers - including hiring, coaching, and building high-performance ways of working.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to leaders across the organization, translating operational challenges into trusted data products, predictive analytics, and decision-support tools.
  • Advance adoption of modern analytics, automation, anomaly detection, and AI-enabled capabilities while reducing reliance on manual reporting.

What You Bring:
  • Proven experience leading Data & Analytics functions in a manufacturing, supply chain, or regulated industry (medical device preferred).
  • Strong technical expertise with Power BI (semantic models), Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), SQL, Python, and cloud data platforms.
  • Demonstrated success in data modernization, report rationalization, architecture design, governance, and cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate at both strategic (roadmap, architecture) and execution levels (delivery, quality, team development).
  • Experience building and scaling analytics teams, establishing SDLC/governance processes, and driving business adoption of self-service analytics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's or advanced certifications preferred).

Why VB Spine?
We believe in growing talent from within. At VB Spine, join a high-performing team, benefit from peer and executive mentorship, and shape strategy in the dynamic field of medical devices-positioning yourself to influence growth and innovation across the organization.
Compensation:
