We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fabrication Shop Lead to join our growing team supporting cutting-edge aerospace and Department of Defense programs. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing fabrication, forming, paint operations, and structural assembly while driving quality, efficiency, and team performance.

What You'll Do

  • Lead daily fabrication shop operations, assigning work and coordinating priorities to meet production schedules.
  • Oversee laser cutting, press brake forming, structural assembly, and paint operations.
  • Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and optimize labor and equipment utilization.
  • Provide technical expertise in fabrication processes, tooling, fixtures, and assembly methods.
  • Troubleshoot complex manufacturing challenges and support engineering-driven solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, MIL-STD requirements, and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain strict adherence to ITAR and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) requirements.
  • Train, mentor, and develop technicians while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Prototype teams to improve manufacturability and production performance.
  • Support customer visits, program reviews, audits, and corrective action initiatives.
  • Represent the fabrication department during internal, customer, and regulatory audits.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or structural assembly environments.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Strong knowledge of laser cutting, metal forming, mechanical manufacturing, and structural assembly processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and military specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in regulated aerospace, defense, or government manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform bending, climbing, and overhead work.
  • Comfortable working around fabrication equipment, noise, heat, and mechanical hazards.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, respirators, and other safety equipment.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under ITAR regulations.
  • Ability to work in Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) environments.
  • Willingness to complete required annual compliance and safety training.
