NGMS located in Linthicum, MD has an immediate need for a Manufacturing / Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer- PCB CAD/CAM. This position is based in Linthicum, however occasional teleworking may be available.
The Advanced Interconnects and Multilayer Solutions (AIMS) manufacturing cell is committed to the rapid development, manufacture, and delivery of leading-edge discriminating products, utilizing advances in organic materials, technology and processing to meet or exceed customer expectations. The Manufacturing / Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer- PCB CAD/CAM will support the fabrication of printed circuit boards, manifolds, and backplanes for next generation RF hardware.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • PCB tooling preparation with InCAM Pro software including 1-up editing, coupon design and panelization.
  • Creation of NC drill/rout, electrical test, optical inspection, CMM and imaging programs.
  • Customer data input, validation, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis.
  • In conjunction with design engineering, documenting and resolving tooling issues.
  • Assisting with the training of personnel and participate in the design of operator training materials.
  • Working with production as well as new developmental designs simultaneously.
  • Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers.
  • Recommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products.
  • Participating in design producibility reviews for new products.
  • Preparing/assisting with manufacturing proposals and estimates for new major programs or major change activity.

The chosen candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; and work well as part of a team.
This requisition may be filled as a Manufacturing Engineer or a Principal Manufacturing Engineer based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications For Manufacturing Process Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related STEM area and 2 or more years of relevant professional experience (or 1 or more years with an MS). Candidates with a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience with PCB manufacturing in support of CAM.
  • Experience with InCAM Pro software application (or equivalent software package, Genesis, CAM 350, Zuken) and DFM analysis.
  • Proficient in PCB data translation including gerber, odb++ and dxf.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and validate PCB drawings and industry specifications.
  • Experience with manufacturing process and IPC specifications used in the production of PCBs in the aerospace market.
  • Experience with MS Office applications.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret level security clearance is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications For Principal Manufacturing Process Engineer:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related STEM area and 5 years of relevant professional experience (or 3 years with an MS). Candidates with a high school diploma and 9 years of relevant experience or an Associate's degree and 7 years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience with PCB manufacturing in support of CAM.
  • Experience with InCAM Pro software application (or equivalent software package) and DFM analysis.
  • Proficient in PCB data translation including gerber, odb++ and dxf.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and validate PCB drawings and industry specifications.
  • Experience with manufacturing process and IPC specifications used in the production of PCBs in the aerospace market; experience with MS Office applications.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret level security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering or math).
  • Experience with FAST drill room management software, XACT PCB registration software and Autocad a plus.
  • Experience with direct exposure imaging and laser drilling desirable.
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and 6 sigma concepts for process development and control.
  • Experience with programming for data manipulation using languages such as VBA and/or R.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
