Job Title: Associate Manufacturing Engineer
Employment Type: 12-month contract
Work Location: Mahwah, New Jersey
Work Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Fully Onsite
Pay Rate: $42.00-$46.00 per hour

Position Summary

We are seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to provide engineering support for manufacturing processes, projects, and functional initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will support manufacturing operations by evaluating process outcomes, identifying improvement opportunities, supporting new product introductions, and assisting with new equipment or process implementation. This role is well suited for an early-career engineer who has strong technical aptitude, good judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained.

This is an individual contributor role that requires the ability to apply engineering knowledge, understand manufacturing processes and procedures, and support continuous improvement, cost efficiency, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Engineering Support
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing processes, projects, and functional teams.
  • Assist with evaluating manufacturing outcomes, process performance, and production-related issues.
  • Support day-to-day manufacturing engineering activities related to process improvement, equipment, documentation, and production support.
  • Work with manufacturing, quality, operations, engineering, and cross-functional teams to resolve process or production concerns.
  • Apply engineering judgment to support routine technical decisions and process-related tasks.
Continuous Improvement and Cost Efficiency
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, quality, workflow, and process consistency.
  • Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with cost-reduction and cost-efficiency projects related to manufacturing processes or equipment.
  • Analyze manufacturing data, process outcomes, and production feedback to support improvement recommendations.
  • Help drive practical solutions that improve operational performance and reduce waste or inefficiencies.

NPI and New Equipment / Process Introductions
  • Support New Product Introduction activities within manufacturing.
  • Assist with new equipment, tooling, or process introductions.
  • Support process setup, equipment readiness, documentation, and implementation activities.
  • Work with project teams to help transition new products, processes, or equipment into manufacturing.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues that arise during new process or equipment implementation.

Documentation and Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Maintain accurate engineering and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support updates to process documents, work instructions, procedures, reports, and project trackers as needed.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, project, and engineering teams to support timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Provide updates on project progress, open actions, risks, and issue resolution.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Ability to apply professional judgment based on training, practice, and previous experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing or project-based environment.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, fully onsite in Mahwah, New Jersey.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship, co-op, or early-career experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, project engineering, or production support.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement, process improvement, or cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Exposure to New Product Introduction or new equipment/process implementation.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis, or problem-solving tools.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, or other project/process tracking tools.
  • Medical device manufacturing experience is a plus.
