Job description

PPC is currently seeking a Manufacturer's Representative for our St Louis, Missouri market!

As the Manufacturer's Representative, you are a key specification driver establishing, maintaining and growing our architectural specification share through our commercial paint products and color tools. This role is a system approach to non-traditional selling with strong positive relationship building skills requiring on-site recommendations, guidance and project meetings with owners, architects, interior designers, product specifiers, general contractors and key corporate accounts. You will work with these business partners to generate specifications and color schedules to paint and maintain new and existing commercial buildings and monumental projects.  

You will work in a remote role across the territory and report to the Specification Area Manager.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Focus is primarily on new construction but will include existing building renovations as a mix. 
  • Project tracking and planning, communicating plan, allocating tasks and setting milestones is key. 
  • Call on firms who influence specifications for commercial businesses, building/office space, retail, hotels, resorts etc. 
  • Build and develop relationships with firms/customers to establish the relationship with PPC. Once relationship is status is established, you will further use presentations to influence the project specification as an approved manufacturer. 
  • This role will address both product systems on the technical side and the color schedules on the design side and must possess the higher-level understanding of complexity and proficiency of both. 
  • Role is expected to hold technical paint system conversations with specification writers and discuss color schemes with interior designers. 

Qualifications: 

  • 5 years minimum experience in outside sales required. 
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Interior Design Degree and/or equivalent experience to influence Architectural Specifications. 
  • Strong presentation skills and proficiency in front of various audiences is a must. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, and web-based applications (Construct Connect, BSD, AVITRU, BIM/REVIT), as well as CRM experience. 
  • Excellent organizational and project management tracking skills. 
  • Preference is given to subject matter specialists in AIA MasterFormat and CSI/CDC Three Part Format, IIDA or ASID. 
  • A member of industry associations is encouraged; existing architect and interior design contacts will be given additional preference. 
  • Must understand the relationship between Owner, Architect, Designer, General Contractor, and Painter. 
  • This role requires consistent travel within the territory and at minimum 2 overnight stays per week to ensure long sales cycles are converted into sales.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License. 

PPC Participates in a Fixed and Variable Rate (FAVR) program. With FAVR, you drive your own car and receive tax-free reimbursements that cover both fixed costs (like insurance) and variable costs (like gas), giving you more choice and equity in your vehicle.
