Job Overview
The Engineer, QA Testing is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of hardware and software products that support medical device connectivity. This role designs, develops, and executes comprehensive test strategies-including manual and automated testing-to validate system functionality across web, Windows, and device-integrated platforms. The engineer identifies, documents, and tracks defects using tools such as Microsoft DevOps, supports developers with unit and integration testing, and contributes to test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium). Working across Linux and Windows environments, the position plays a key role in system integration troubleshooting, validation documentation, and regulatory compliance through protocol development and SOP authoring. The role partners closely with cross-functional teams to define testing requirements, participate in product design reviews, and ensure successful execution of integration, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing across multiple releases. This position requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, experience in healthcare IT or medical device environments (including hardware testing and device connectivity such as Talis Hub), and the ability to communicate effectively while applying critical thinking and continuous quality improvement practices.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
  • Responsible for QC testing hardware and software products supporting connectivity with medical devices.
  • Responsible for ensuring hardware and software products and services meet the established standards of quality including reliability, usability, and performance.
  • Responsible for the writing and execution of tests and reporting of issues.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining software testing automation suites for all device connectivity related products, where possible.
  • Assist developers in creating unit and integration tests.
  • Participate in designing test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures.
  • Document defects, using Microsoft DevOps, and report defects to developers.
  • Participate in development of testing programs that address areas such as database impacts, test scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability.
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
  • Track and report against established QA metrics.
  • Participate in defining applicable testing procedures and expectations with business and development teams.
  • Support holistic testing efforts for multiple projects and product releases, including integration, system, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing.
  • Provide estimates for testing tasks and responsibilities and communicate QA activity status.
  • Write validation protocols and reports
  • Author and review standard operating procedures
  • Support Quality Assurance tasks, as assigned
  • Oversee Quality incoming receipt and inspection processes for device connectivity hardware and software products
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to respond effectively to all levels of end users.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with software testing in the Healthcare IT or Medical Device industries.
  • Strong computer, application, and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with both Linux & Windows operating systems.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with Talis Products, especially Talis Hub Device Connectivity.
  • Experience with testing Medical Devices and/or Medical Device Connectivity.
  • Experience with hardware testing.
  • Experience with bash/shell scripting.
  • Experience with unit tests (e.g., NUnit).
  • Experience working with medical devices.
  • System integration troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Experience with various methods of software testing to address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, end-to-end and integration testing, boundary/negative testing, error or defect retests, usability tests, and user acceptance tests.
  • Testing web applications for cross-browser compatibility using desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Testing both Web Applications and Windows Applications.
  • Experience with Automated Testing tools (e.g. Selenium).
  • Experience using project tracking software is considered a strong asset.
