A manicurist cleans and polishes the nails of clients. Manicurists are part of the beauty and cosmetology industry and receive specialized training and licensure. For this career, your responsibilities are to assess the nails of a client, shape nails and cuticles, remove old polish, and apply a new polish to their fingernails or fake nails. Most manicurists also provide pedicures. Additional duties of a manicurist include maintaining the cleanliness of their workspace and keeping all tools and equipment sanitary to prevent the spread of germs and diseases.

What does a manicurist do?

A manicurist is a beauty professional who specializes in the care and treatment of clients' fingernails and hands. Their typical services include nail shaping, cuticle care, hand massages, and the application of nail polish or artificial nails. Manicurists also offer advice on nail and hand health, and may provide nail art or other decorative treatments. They work in salons, spas, or as independent contractors, ensuring clients have healthy and attractive nails.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a manicurist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Manicurist, you need proficiency in nail care techniques, sanitation practices, and a state-issued cosmetology or nail technician license.
