Job description

MK Magnetics (www.mkmagnetics.com) specializes in the production of custom and standard tape wound soft magnetic cores for transformers and inductors. All the cores we sell are manufactured on site in Adelanto, California in a modern 75,000 sqft facility specially designed and built for manufacturing tape wound magnetic cores.

JOB SUMMARY – This entry level to intermediate position is responsible for learning the procedures and techniques involved in the winding of tape wound magnetic cores.

Responsibilities:

  • Observes senior Winder conducting various tasks to learn procedures and techniques.
  • Reads process sheet for winding instructions; material and tooling needs.
  • Collects material and mandrels and mandrel plate from shelves; request assistance when needed.
  • Loads material on to pay-off manually or using forklift.
  • Affixes mandrel plate on winder using hand tools.
  • Feeds material through winder setting tension by material type and placing material guide blocks along guide.
  • Places mandrel on plate and attach material to mandrel; using correct tape for part and placing mica tape between mandrel and core, if required.
  • Sets controls for number of turns and speed.
  • Starts winder machine and monitors feed of material from pay-off through winder.
  • Measures part to verify it meets dimensions; if not remove or add material and increase or decrease number of turns on controller; noting adjusted number of turns on process sheet.
  • Welds ends of part and removes completed core from winder manually or using forklift.
  • Weighs material left over, if any, when job is finished and writes material information and weight on coil of material.
  • Inspects work in progress to confirm parts are being built to specifications before forwarding on to next department.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum one year experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Knowledge in Mathematics such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percents, etc.
  • Able to work with hand and power tools used in manufacturing work; especially tools used for measurement, preferred.
  • Experience in chemical handling and safety procedures, preferred.
  • Knowledge in using calipers, scales and other precision tools used to measure.
  • Read and understand process sheets.
  • Able to work 2nd shift 3pm-1130pm
