ADO's analytics function powers this work with the data, insights, and decision support that drive efficiency, cost savings, and a stronger customer experience.
About the Opportunity
As the Senior Director, Data Analytics you will lead Operations analytics strategy, building and managing a team that will improve operational execution and reduce friction. This role and team is critical to advancing digital transformation at College Board and in the Ops division-building the team's predictive and decision-oriented analytics models including: forecasting, modeling, cost assessment, optimization, and decision support.
As the leader of a high-performing analytics team, you will set the analytics strategy, define how work is prioritized and delivered, and ensure delivery of data products to support timely execution of various CB products. Working closely with the Executive Director of Customer, Program, Product & Performance Outcomes (C3PO) and partners across Operations, Product, Program, and Technology, you will embed analytics into operational decision-making, identify and address inefficiencies, develop experiments, and mature Operations' analytics function to champion College Board's mission.
In this role, you will:
Set vision and strategy (30%)
  • Build the analytics team and strategy. Direct the building of forecasting, optimization, and decision support models to improve customer experience, execution, while reducing costs.

  • Lead the team in driving analysis that surfaces more efficient operational models and translates findings into cost savings and process improvements.

  • Guide the development of models to estimate the effect of a variety of policy changes.

  • Mature Operations' role within College Board's data and analytics ecosystem, connecting the team's work to CB's strategic vision.

  • Set the team's technical direction on modern analytic methods (e.g., AI-assisted coding or statistical modeling) and build the function's capability to scale ahead of where Operations will be in two to three years.

Drive continuous improvement & innovation through cross-functional collaboration and influence (35%)
  • Set the methodology, quality bar, and technical priorities for the team's predictive and optimization models, forecasts, and decision-support tools. Review outputs and steer direction to improve operational outcomes.

  • Present strategic analytics insights to senior leadership in ways that shift operational decisions towards improved outcomes.

  • Shape outcomes by embedding analytics into Product, Program, and Technology's operational priorities.

  • Partner with Finance and Program to set budgetary assumptions, goals, cost drivers, and variance tracking.

Lead and Manage the Analytics Team (35%)
  • Hire, onboard, and lead a high-performing analytics team that is responsible for advanced forecasting, modeling, and data analytics.

  • Build the function's future capability and bench: anticipate the modeling, AI and data-infrastructure skills Operations will need in two to three years and develop talent depth to meet it.

  • Set vision and priorities for the team, track and manage progress to goals, and provide coaching and support to ensure team members meet and exceed goals, remain engaged, and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

  • Cultivate an inclusive and high-achieving culture that enables all team members to live out College Board's Operating Principles effectively and provide opportunities for professional development and growth.

  • Bring proven leadership experience and consistently embody College Board's Manager Expectations in your work.

About You
You have:
  • A combination of education and experience equal to 8-10+ years, including practical data analysis and leading analytics work in a professional setting.

  • Education: A master's degree in a quantitative or equivalent field (required); a Ph.D. in a quantitative field (strongly preferred).

  • A proven track record of driving operational excellence and delivering measurable results.

  • Experience leading a team and shaping senior-leader analytic decisions.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and planning skills-you can build a strategy, connect the dots, and build toward the future.

  • Experience applying analytics to operational, customer experience, or process-improvement challenges in government, education, technology, or service-based industry.

  • The ability to travel 4-6 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business.

All roles at College Board require:

  • Clear and concise communication skills, written and verbal

  • A learner's mindset and a commitment to growth: welcoming diverse perspectives, giving and receiving timely, respectful feedback, and continuously improving through iterative learning and user input.

  • A drive for impact and excellence: solving complex problems, making data-informed decisions, prioritizing what matters most, and continuously improving through learning, user input, and external benchmarking.

  • A collaborative and empathetic approach: working across differences, fostering trust, and contributing to a culture of shared success
