Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the Warehouse Manager in overseeing daily warehouse operations at a high-volume beer distribution facility. This role helps lead a union workforce to ensure efficient product handling, accurate inventory management, timely order fulfillment, and safe working practices. The Assistant Warehouse Manager works closely with operations leadership, delivery, and procurement teams to maintain productivity, accuracy, and compliance with company standards and collective bargaining agreements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, storage, replenishment, picking, and shipping of products.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to union warehouse employees, ensuring adherence to work rules, performance standards, and safety policies.
  • Monitor order accuracy and inventory control processes to ensure product quality and minimize loss, breakage, and mis-picks.
  • Partner with the Warehouse Manager to implement operational improvements that enhance efficiency, productivity, and service levels.
  • Coordinate labor scheduling, staffing, and overtime in compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and DOT requirements.
  • Participate in training programs for new hires and ongoing development of staff.
  • Act as the point of contact for union workforce issues, escalating concerns to the Warehouse Manager and HR as needed.
  • Support cross-departmental coordination with delivery, sales, and procurement to ensure seamless operations.
  • Assist in managing warehouse equipment, maintenance schedules, and vendor service needs.
  • Prepare and analyze operational reports to track KPIs such as productivity, safety incidents, and order accuracy.
  • Step in for the Warehouse Manager when absent, ensuring uninterrupted warehouse operations.
  • Managing, training, developing and regular work with time for all direct reports.

Qualifications
  • Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM start
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3+ years of warehouse or distribution operations experience; beverage, food, or consumer goods industry preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a unionized environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control, and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team while fostering a respectful, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires.

Working Conditions
  • Warehouse/plant environment with exposure to returned containers, forklifts, and related equipment.
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs., and extended periods of physical activity.
  • Adherence to all safety and sanitation guidelines is mandatory.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs. regularly and perform warehouse floor activities.
  • Ability to work in varying warehouse environments (cooler, ambient, outdoor).

Salary: $70,000.00-$75,000.00It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
