Job description

Overview

The Supervisor is responsible for meeting and/or exceeding safety, quality, production, and     employee relations performance objectives by communicating all relevant information/major issues to the building Plant Manager, Weekend Warrior Supervisor II, and all supporting functional areas while simultaneously working to resolve the issue. The Supervisor's chief responsibility is to ensure performance measured by metrics in his/her area is meeting or exceeding all defined goals and performing leader standard work as defined and outlined below. This work should be completed while adhering to and complying with Company policy. Supervisors are also responsible for developing, motivating, and teaching Department Leaders in order to prepare them for future leadership roles. 

Responsibilities
  • Leading People
  • Building and supporting a customer focused mentality. Coaching, mentoring, and holding       Department Leaders and employees accountable for their performance by following the Employee Alignment Process. Identifying and solving problems that are impacting the performance of assigned production areas. Identifying and fulfilling Department Leader and employee training/certification needs. Providing and facilitating communication with all assigned workers and functional support areas by building a team atmosphere and continuously improving employee job satisfaction and morale. Thoroughly and effectively evaluating and reviewing performance of individual workers through frequent coaching and employee reviews to assist the Company in talent development and accuracy of performance. Collaboratively define performance goals and expectations for all Department Leaders and delegate responsibility and authority appropriately.  

  • Leader Standard Work
    • Safety/Housekeeping 
    • Completing daily checks which include but are not limited to:  
    • Ensuring that all employees are following Company dress code, proper PPE is being utilized, and equipment/employees are working in a safe manner  
    • Making sure that all accidents are reported timely, reviewing all First Aid Incident Logs for accuracy, and acting on any opportunities for injury prevention  
    • Checking work area, equipment, and tooling assigned for the line throughout the day to ensure that it is well maintained, clean, orderly, and in good working condition  
    • Completing at least one item on safety checklist per day and turning in the actual checklist by the first Friday of the month  
    • Maintaining end of shift cleaning period by giving employees clear direction and assignment to specific cleaning areas to ensure that cleaning is done the entire time and each area is adequately staffed  
    • Note: Any issues found should be appropriately investigated, reported, and resolved.  
    • Quality 
    • Completing daily checks which include but are not limited to:  
    • Completing in process Quality Audits, specifically looking for poor workmanship (specifically size, shape, and quality of material), ensuring that parts are accurate to drawings and are without dents, dings, and scratches and this quality is maintained throughout the run; ensuring that employees are properly recording daily damage and rework activity  
    • Ensuring all setups are signed off by the originator and an additional employee and all in process quality checks are being completed by the appropriate party  
    • Note: Any issues found should be appropriately investigated, reported, and resolved.  
    • Production 
    • Completing daily checks which include but are not limited to:  
    • Ensuring that all workers on assigned machines follow established work approach and/or written work instructions. Working with Production Engineering to update work approach and/or written work instructions as needed through PCN's, new products, and process improvement ideas  
    • Assigning specific tasks to workers based on rate/employee changes and identifying and assigning trainers to trainees  
    • Communicating regularly with other leaders to ensure that employees are meeting daily production goals (monitoring part processing sheets, machine cycle counters, schedules, etc.)  
    • Identifying and resolving department bottlenecks  
    • Reviewing the weekly schedule or work orders in order to create a daily mixed model schedule and execute to ensure completion by the end of the week  
    • Coordinating with Plant Manager II when other shifts are needed in an area and coordinate specific production assignments with other shift Supervisors (where applicable)  
    • Communicating status and/or issues with Parts Coordinators and Sheet Metal Operations Manager on completions which includes submitting the Work Orders Behind report weekly  
    • Coordinating and communicating with Parts Coordinators and Sheet Metal Operations Manager to ensure that all materials are available to satisfy production requirements  
    • Working with Design/Production Engineering/Sheet Metal Operations to process pilot parts and provide feedback on manufacturability/quality issues, and prepare production area(s) to make the new parts piloted  
    • Working with cross-functional teams to implement design engineering product changes (PCN'S) on existing products in a timely and effective manner  
    • Note: Any issues found should be appropriately investigated, reported, and resolved.  
    • Human Resources 
    • Completing checks and/or paperwork which includes but is not limited to:  
    • Completing daily absent/on premise reports, time off request, and submitting back to HR in a timely manner which includes notifying the Payroll Department for the allocated hours for manpower moved in or out of the area (and/or other specific allocated hours moved such as UPS/RCR activity, etc.)  
    • Filling out transfer paperwork when it applies  
    • Properly investigating and reporting all forklift accidents to ensure that individuals are driving in a safe manner and are sent for a drug screen right away  
    • Actively monitoring, properly addressing, and documenting attendance and work habit issues; Logging Employee Alignment conversations for future reference  
    • Checking in with each worker in assigned area on a daily basis to identify and discuss issues (especially newer employees)  
    • Note: Any issues found should be appropriately investigated, reported, and resolved. 
    • Work with the Human Resource Department to maintain employee files for assigned line, including attendance and other employee related actions such as promotion, Employee Alignment, and rate increases.

    Qualifications

    Required:  

    • At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a similar or related supervisory/leadership position  
    • Basic knowledge of the majority of assembly manufacturing processes in assigned area  
    • Knowledge of company policies and production floor procedures  
    • Strives for continuous improvement and has a team-based mindset  
    • Adequate written and above average verbal communication skills  
    • Ability to be assertive and diplomatic when interacting with employees at all levels  
    • Ability to lead people, obtain commitment from team members, and achieve results through others  
    • Ability to pay attention to detail, think logically by gathering all of the facts, thoroughly check into situations that do not make sense, and rationally resolve problems  
    • Positive attitude, team player, and supports the direction and policies of the Company  
    • Proven history of a good work performance, reliability, and attendance  
    • Ability to think ahead, set daily and weekly goals, and create action plans to achieve results  
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and simultaneously achieve results in the areas of safety, quality, production attainment, productivity, and employee relations/morale  
    • Ability to follow-up and follow through with all open issues until the root cause has been determined, investigated, and eliminated  
    • Maintain confidentiality where necessary  

    Preferred:  

    • Degree or equivalent experience  
    • Basic knowledge of refrigeration based products  
    • Basic computer skills including JDE, Microsoft Word, EXCEL, and Outlook  
    • Basic awareness of OSHA safety requirements

    The hours for this position are Friday - Sunday, 6:00 am - 6:30 pm
