Job Title: Warehouse Worker

Job Description

This warehouse worker role focuses on accurately and efficiently kitting and moving materials to support plant production lines in a manufacturing environment. You will play a key part in supporting assembly and fabrication teams through precise material movement, stockroom replenishment, and collaboration with the shipping team. The position requires strong attention to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, as well as the ability to flex between multiple workstations and tasks as production needs change.

Responsibilities

• Own personal and team safety by following all safety rules and consistently using appropriate safety equipment.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute the flow of materials to support the plant manufacturing process, providing a high level of focus and service to production teams.
• Support production through accurate material movement, timely stockroom replenishment, and assistance to the shipping team as required.
• Serve as a spotter for the shipping team when clearing lines, loading trucks, or moving units in the yard to reduce risk and prevent damage.
• Maintain and sustain 5S standards in the department to ensure an organized, efficient, and safe work area.
• Meet established quality standards on a consistent basis and follow quality procedures when issues are identified.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts within the materials team to drive cost reductions and process improvements.
• Identify material shortages impacting production and coordinate solutions in partnership with purchasing.
• Accurately complete required paperwork and online data entry related to materials, inventory, and production.
• Execute movement of sheet metal materials from the end of final weld to the assembly lines.
• Handle movement of kitted materials to the appropriate production departments and ensure on-time delivery to correct locations.
• Maintain neat, orderly, and clearly organized staging areas for all materials.
• Continuously develop skills and expertise to flex to the maximum number of workstations within the materials, shipping, kitting, and receiving areas.
• Demonstrate accountability for department performance and contribute positively to team goals.
• Ensure individual activities support sustainability by minimizing waste, maximizing recycling, and reducing energy and water usage.
• Support a culture of innovation by proposing and applying original ideas to improve processes, methods, systems, or services.
• Read and interpret production schedules, fabrication sheets, blueprints, and related job paperwork to perform tasks correctly and efficiently.
• Use a wide range of hand, power, and air tools, including drills, grinders, and impact guns, to support mechanical assembly and material handling tasks.
• Assemble a variety of mechanical units and subassemblies at workstations using engineering instructions and standard work for assembly when needed.
• Perform other related duties as requested, directed, or assigned to support overall plant operations.

Essential Skills

• Prior supply chain or warehouse experience preferred, with a solid understanding of material flow in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment, including forklifts, tuggers, stock pickers, walkies, and similar material handling equipment.
• Competence in basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction-to-decimal conversions.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, fabrication sheets, production schedules, and related job documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical assemblies and production line operations.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and air tools, such as electrical drills, grinders, and air impact guns.
• Demonstrated written communication skills, including the ability to document processes and write professional, concise, and clear memos or emails.
• Demonstrated oral communication skills, with the ability to share information clearly, professionally, and accurately with coworkers and internal customers.
• Working knowledge of inventory management systems and inventory locations, material delivery points, and line indexing.
• Understanding of elementary and intermediate LEAN principles, including 5S, Kanban, and basic continuous improvement techniques.
• Familiarity with ISO-related procedures, policies, and instructions for the assigned area to ensure quality compliance.
• Demonstrated competence in following quality procedures and processes when a quality issue is identified.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and effectively prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Flexibility and adaptability to quickly adjust to changing priorities, workstations, and production needs.
• Customer-focused mindset with a strong desire to meet internal customer needs within the plant.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Construction or mechanical experience in a manufacturing facility is highly beneficial.
• Experience in mechanical assembly, light industrial work, or production line operations is an asset.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately and apply measurements in daily tasks.
• Comfort working with a wide range of hand, power, and air tools on a regular basis.
• Computer skills sufficient to locate relevant instructions, forms, and documentation as needed.
• Thorough knowledge of hazards related to cranes, fixtures, and other safety-sensitive areas within the plant.
• Ability to interpret and follow standard work instructions, procedures, and policies related to quality and safety.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain orderly staging and storage areas.
• Willingness to work across materials, shipping, kitting, and receiving functions as operational needs require.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility where approximately 95% of the work is performed indoors. The noise level is typically loud, and hearing protection is required. Large bay doors are frequently open, so you may experience seasonal temperature variations, including cold conditions in winter and hot conditions in summer. The physical demands include regularly lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for up to 80% of the time, and performing activities such as walking, reaching, bending, stooping, sitting, and fine hand manipulation. Strong hand–eye coordination is needed to operate tools and equipment safely. Work is generally scheduled across any of three shifts for about forty hours per week, with some weekend overtime expected. You should expect to get dirty by the end of your shift due to the nature of the work. A manufacturing dress code applies: steel toe or composite toe boots must be self-supplied, while personal protective equipment such as ear plugs, safety glasses or goggles (or side shields for approved prescription glasses), gloves, and arm shields is provided. Tools required for the role are issued on-site, enabling you to perform your duties safely and effectively.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milford, DE.

The pay range for this position is $19.66 - $19.66/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
